A new outlook for a 1960s Surrey home 🪟

Our clients wanted the house to better reflect Surrey’s traditional architecture. The extension and refurbishment paired this ambition with brighter interiors, introducing new windows throughout to frame the garden views.

Large sliding doors open the dining area directly onto the terrace, filling the space with natural light.

A walk through our traditional new-build home in Surrey, where the final details are coming together as we near completion 🔨

Step beneath the oak entrance porch and inside, where bespoke stairs by Input Joinery, a kitchen by Thomas Ford and Crittall-style doors by Perla complement a beautiful vaulted ceiling with oak trusses.

Outside, the planting our clients undertook at the very start of the project is now beginning to flourish, giving the garden time to establish ahead of completion.

This home’s oak-framed extensions make a striking impression, with warm light revealing their character and detail ✨

As part of a complete refurbishment, the new extensions were designed to echo the oak framing of the existing house, with generous glazing giving them a contemporary feel.

This approach maximises views of the lake, terraces and garden across the rear of the property, making the most of its lakeside position while respecting the character of the original home.

With cooler days approaching, this light-filled studio offers a welcoming retreat, where garden views and the warmth of a wood-burning stove bring an autumnal feel 🪵

The vaulted ceiling and frameless rooflights create a sense of space, while retractable corner doors open onto the landscaped terrace and swimming pool, keeping the garden central to the experience of the room. Outside, black-stained vertical larch boarding is paired with clay roof tiles to complement the existing house.

A recent visit to this completed project, now in full bloom 🌿

The brief called for internal alterations and changes to the overall master plan, with no extension to the Grade II listed building. Careful attention to detail helped us improve sight lines through the existing property, make the most of views around it and create stronger connections to the surrounding landscape.

Seeing the house and gardens at their best brings the whole vision to life.

What does a Mitchell Evans Golf Day look like from 8am to 4pm? ⛳️

8am: Bacon sandwiches and coffee at Bramley Golf Club as the teams arrived for the day.

11am: Out on the course for 18 holes.

1pm: A halfway stop for refreshments, with the opportunity to make a donation to The Brain Tumour Charity.

4pm: Back together for a three-course dinner, speeches and awards to round off the day.

Two weeks on, we’re grateful to everyone who joined us, supported the fundraising and made this year’s golf day such an enjoyable one.
