It's time to celebrate our team once again – huge congratulations to Vyto Zvinklys, our Employee of the Month!

This recognises Vyto’s incredible desire to keep learning since joining us earlier this year.

As well as providing consistently excellent customer service over the phone, Vyto regularly carries out remote resets, assists clients via the cloud, and does a lot of behind-the-scenes work that few people will ever see.

And as the photo below shows, he’s always focusing on learning new things – you can see him getting to grips with a Honeywell Galaxy so he can provide first-line support to the wider team with these systems.

It’s a pleasure to have Vyto on our team - a big congratulations and thank you - very well deserved! šŸ˜€

Is your intruder alarm properly monitored?

You might assume so, but it's always worth double-checking.

Ask your provider these five questions to get the whole picture:
1. Is my system monitored by an accredited ARC (Alarm Receiving Centre)?
2. Do I have a valid Police URN registered to this property?
3. Is my installation certified to BS EN 50131?
4. Is my installer NSI- or SSAIB-accredited?
5. Will I / do I own the equipment, or is it on loan?

The Autumn equinox has been and gone, and most of us are using our gardens less than we did in the summer.

You'll probably be putting your garden furniture, cooking equipment and gardening tools away any time now.

But have you stopped to think about how secure your outbuildings and sheds might be?

Here are 5 ways to keep your fair-weather possessions safe until spring:
- extend your CCTV coverage or intruder alarm to include outbuildings
- use security lighting outside your shed or garage
- upgrade to a smart lock instead of a regular padlock
- obscure any windows so opportunistic thieves can't see inside your shed
- use lockable stands or ground anchors to add an extra layer of security

And of course, make sure your outbuilding contents are insured.

Let's play a little game of true or false...

All monitored alarms guarantee a police response if someone breaks into your home or premises.

What do you think?

Drumroll....

The answer is FALSE.

If your alarm goes off, will anyone come?

Most homeowners assume that someone’s watching their monitored alarm and that the police will respond, but this isn’t always the case.

Here's what DOES happen:
1. Your monitored alarm will connect to an Alarm Receiving Centre (ARC). This is a 24/7 staffed facility, watching for signals from your system.

2. What happens next depends on whether your system has a police URN (Unique Reference Number).
āœ… If it does have a URN, the ARC can call your local police force directly, treating your alert as a verified, priority incident. This means an average 8-minute response.
āŒ If it doesn’t have a URN, the ARC can only call 999, like any other member of the public. This means no guaranteed response time, and worryingly, officers may not be dispatched at all.

This means that although two ā€œmonitoredā€ alarms may look similar, they could perform completely differently in an emergency because of who fitted them. 😱

Want to know how to get a URN? Simple - your system must meet the required standard AND your installer must be NSI or SSAIB-accredited, just like Absolute Fire & Security.
