A confused foxglove in October! 🌸
Normally flowering in May–June, this little foxglove is blooming at just 30cm tall. Most likely, the extreme summer drought caused a period of stress-induced dormancy, followed by autumn rain and cooler temperatures triggering fresh growth and an out-of-season attempt to flower.
A fascinating example of how extreme weather can disrupt a plant’s normal seasonal rhythm.
