Another garden transformed by ELM Gloucestershire — taking a tired and dated outdoor space and turning it into a much more practical, modern and enjoyable garden.

This project involved a complete redesign of the existing garden, with a combination of new landscaping and clever use of existing materials to maximise the space while keeping the overall design cohesive.

🔨 The project included:

▪️ New porcelain patio — a clean, contemporary paved area providing the perfect space for outdoor seating and entertaining.

▪️ Sleeper retaining wall — constructed to retain the patio area and create definition between the different levels of the garden.

▪️ Existing slabs carefully lifted and relaid — rather than replacing perfectly usable paving, we redesigned the layout and reused the existing slabs to create a much wider and more practical pathway around the garden for wheelchair access.

▪️ New sandstone paving circle — a feature circular patio added to break up the lawn and create a dedicated focal point within the garden.

▪️ Complete rear fencing replacement — new timber fencing installed with concrete posts and gravel boards to give the garden a fresh, clean finish and improve privacy.

▪️ New timber gate — completing the boundary work and providing a smart, secure access point.

✨ Full Indian Sandstone Restoration Complete! ✨

This project is a perfect example of how a professional restoration can completely transform tired, weathered paving without the expense of replacing it.

Over the years, the patio and front pathway had become heavily stained with dirt, algae and stubborn black spot, while a number of paving slabs had become loose and the joints had started to fail.

Here’s what we carried out:

🧼 Two specialist cleaning treatments
• Professional patio cleaner to break down dirt, algae and organic growth.
• Dedicated black spot remover to tackle the deep, stubborn lichen staining common on Indian sandstone.

💦 Two thorough pressure washes
After each treatment, the paving was pressure washed to remove years of built-up grime and reveal the stone’s original colours and natural beauty.

🔨 Loose paving slabs re-bonded
Any loose or wobbly paving slabs were carefully lifted where necessary and re-bonded to provide a solid, stable surface before re-pointing.

🧱 Old grout removed & patio fully re-grouted
All failed jointing was completely removed before the entire patio and front pathway were re-pointed using a premium resin jointing compound, creating a strong, w**d-resistant and durable finish.

✨ Sandstone sealer & colour enhancer applied
Finally, the paving was treated with a high-quality sandstone sealer and colour enhancer. This enriched the natural tones of the stone while providing long-lasting protection against staining, weathering and water ingress.

The transformation speaks for itself. The natural colours are back, the paving is solid underfoot, the joints are crisp and the entire outdoor space has been given a new lease of life.

🏡 Another Transformation Complete! 🚧➡️🪵

Here’s one of our latest fencing projects, where we completely transformed the boundary of this property by removing an old brick wall and replacing it with a brand-new timber fence.

The job included:
✅ Careful demolition and removal of the existing brick wall.
✅ Responsible disposal of all rubble and waste.
✅ Installation of heavy-duty concrete posts and concrete gravel boards for maximum strength and longevity.
✅ Fitting high-quality feather edge fence panels to create a secure, attractive boundary.
✅ Tidying the site and leaving everything clean and ready for the customer.

Another fencing transformation completed! 👌

This project came with its fair share of challenges. The existing fence had seen better days, and access down the side of the property was extremely tight, with mature bushes and established planting making the working space very restricted. Careful planning and plenty of manual handling were needed to complete the installation while protecting the customer’s garden.

Before the new fence could go in, we removed the existing tree stumps along the front boundary to create a clean slate and ensure a solid, long-lasting installation.

We removed the old fence and installed a brand-new boundary using concrete posts, timber rails, and pressure-treated feather edge slats to create a strong, durable fence that will stand the test of time with minimal maintenance.

To finish the front boundary, we added a 1ft diagonal lattice trellis, giving the fence a more decorative appearance while maintaining privacy and security while allowing extra light through.

The end result is a smart, durable fence that has completely transformed both the back and the front of the property.

Over the years this Indian sandstone patio had become tired and weathered, with w**ds taking hold in the joints, staining across the paving, broken slabs and poorly finished inset manhole covers spoiling the overall appearance.

Our restoration included:

✅ Full w**d removal and surface preparation
✅ Professional pressure washing to remove years of dirt, algae and grime
✅ Deep clean to restore the natural colours of the sandstone
✅ Replacement of damaged and broken paving slabs
✅ Rebuilding and correctly insetting the recessed manhole covers for a seamless finish

A fantastic transformation completed for another happy customer!

This garden had become heavily overgrown, with long grass making the space difficult to enjoy and maintain. The customer wanted a fresh, practical lawn area that would be safe for the family and provide a clean, attractive outdoor space for years to come.
