We were delighted to attend this week’s HBF Skills Parliamentary Reception at the Houses of Parliament in London.

Our CEO Lindsey Young, alongside apprentice Luke Sully and Team Leader Sam Gilbert (former apprentice), attended the event hosted by the Home Builders Federation and sponsored by Lauren Edwards MP, Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Skills, Careers and Employment.

During the reception, Luke and Sam also took the opportunity to discuss their apprenticeship experience with Catherine Fookes MP for Monmouthshire, sharing insights into the value of hands-on learning in developing the next generation of skilled electricians (pictured below).

The reception showcased the wide range of career opportunities within the homebuilding industry and brought together apprentices, graduates, and new entrants with MPs and Peers to discuss the future of skills in our sector.

At Clarkson Evans, investing in apprenticeships is at the heart of what we do. By training the next generation of electricians, we’re helping to build the skilled workforce the UK needs to support increased housing delivery. Events like this are a powerful reminder that developing a strong talent pipeline is essential if we are to meet the country’s housing ambitions.

The Future Homes Standard is redefining UK housebuilding, and we’re proud to be at the forefront of that change.

This is more than a regulatory update. It’s a decisive move towards homes that are low energy, zero-carbon ready and built to perform within a smarter, future-focused energy system. Delivering that vision takes technical expertise, early engagement and close collaboration across the supply chain.

At Clarkson Evans, we’re not just responding to the Future Homes Standard, we’re helping shape it. As active contributors to the ventilation and solar implementation groups, we’re bringing hands-on insight to ensure the transition works in practice as well as on paper.

We’re also supporting the Future Homes Hub’s campaign, championing a clear set of practical actions designed to help housebuilders strengthen delivery, safeguard customer satisfaction and reduce risk as they adapt to the new requirements.

From Solar PV and battery storage to EV charging infrastructure, our teams are delivering the technologies that underpin compliant, future-ready homes, at scale, across the UK.

Leigh Mason, Group Technical Director at Clarkson Evans, said: “It’s exciting to be contributing to the Future Homes Standard and working closely with the implementation groups. There’s real momentum behind these changes, and we’re perfectly placed to support housebuilders through this transition.”

The standard is rising. We’re ready to deliver it.

Yesterday we were proud to be part of NHBC Beyond 26 Live, an event that brought together around 1,500 industry professionals from across the new-build construction sector for a day packed with insight, collaboration and forward-thinking discussion.

After months of planning alongside NHBC, LJ Construction Carpentry Contractors Ltd and RS Miller Group, we were delighted to see it all come together so successfully.

Our Group Technical Manager, Aaron Welch, took to the Roofing Stage to deliver an engaging and insightful best practice demonstration, sparking great conversations and plenty of positive feedback throughout the day.

Aaron was joined at the event by our CEO Lindsey Young, Group Production Director Chris Pike, Group Commercial Director Tim Bisp, and colleagues Brad Grainger, Mark Burrows, Shaun Collins, Jermaine Hunt, Ashley Bridgman and Lee Chivers, a fantastic team effort all round.

It was a pleasure to collaborate once again with NHBC for another successful Beyond Live event. A special thank you to NHBC Regional Director Luke Carter and the entire NHBC team for bringing the industry together and making the day such a success.

Here’s to continuing the conversation, raising standards, and building better together.

National Apprenticeship Week 2026

At Clarkson Evans, an electrical apprenticeship is just the beginning.

For over 30 years, we’ve been committed to training and developing apprentices, creating long-term careers, not just delivering qualifications. More than 70% of our management team are former electrical apprentices who have progressed through the business, helping to shape the future of our company and the wider industry.

This culture of progression is central to our success as a trusted leader in solar and electrical installations within the new-build housing sector, and in 2025, our commitment to high-quality training was proudly recognised with a Princess Royal Training Award.

As we celebrate National Apprenticeship Week 2026, we’re proud to champion apprenticeships as a powerful pathway to opportunity, offering real responsibility, continuous development, and the chance to build a lifelong career.

• Learn a skilled trade
• Grow with the renewable energy transition
• Progress into leadership

Because at Clarkson Evans, today’s apprentice is tomorrow’s industry leader.

It’s New Homes Week 2026 and time to shine a spotlight on how new-build homes can transform the way we live.

Renewable technologies mean new houses are much more energy efficient than older properties, with 87% of new builds now achieving A or B Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) ratings. Some new houses even come with Octopus Energy Energy Zero Bills, and we’re proud to be a Certified Installer and Assessor to help homeowners tap into these smart tariffs where available.

With the government’s Future Homes Standard set to reshape the new-build landscape, we’re excited to be involved in the implementation group and working with partners to accelerate the transition to lower-carbon, more sustainable homes.

Building better homes today for a cleaner tomorrow.

Today we share the news that Lee Chadwick is stepping down from his role as Director of Renewables at Clarkson Evans.

Since joining the business, Lee has played a pivotal role in expanding and strengthening our new-build solar delivery. Under his leadership, our renewables capability has grown significantly, and we are proud of the quality, safety and consistency achieved across every installation.

As Lee moves on, he does so leaving things in safe and capable hands, with the foundations for continued growth firmly in place. Tim Bisp can be contacted for all commercial, procurement and sales enquiries, Aaron Welch for technical matters, and Brad Grainger for solar operations, with a wider team driving everything from design to customer support.

Lee remains committed to the renewables sector and will now focus on working closely with manufacturers and supply-chain partners, applying his extensive industry experience to support innovation, scale and the transition toward the Future Homes Standard and Net Zero.

We would like to thank Lee for his leadership, dedication and the impact he has had on Clarkson Evans. It has been a pleasure to work together, and we wish him every success in what comes next.
