Our experience with Toni, from The Good Surveyor, has been absolutely beyond expectations, from start to finish. This isn't the first time we've purchased a house that is old enough to need a Level 3 survey but there is simply no comparison between Toni's professionalism and previous surveyors' attitudes and reports.

From the very first contact, she has gone out of her way to learn as much as she can about the house and, importantly, about any particular issues that we wanted her to focus on in more detail, prior to the visit. She welcomed every piece of documentation that we shared with her and clearly has a passion for her role. I dread to think how many hours Toni has spent on our unusual house purchase overall, but it's a LOT! She spent hours at the property on the survey itself and the resulting report, despite being incredibly detailed and informative, was given to us within a couple of days.

Not only has her report given us the confidence to commit to our purchase, the information within it is going to be useful to us for years to come. Not only that, but she identified some really key issues that need addressing urgently, and this enabled us to renegotiate the purchase price with a significant reduction.
Toni has not only saved us a lot of money, she is such a lovely, engaging person, who never made us feel that we were taking up too much of her time. I hope that we never need to use The Good Surveyor again, as I hope this is the final house we buy (!) but I cannot recommend her and her team highly enough.

The combination of good value, efficiency, personal attention and a high level of knowledge and commitment is a rare find nowadays and we feel such relief that we hit the jackpot!

It is such a massive shame to see the state of the rivers around Tewkesbury right now. 😔🌾
Driving past the Avon and the Severn lately, and on my walk today, it’s impossible to miss the thick green mats of Floating Pennywort completely taking over. This isn't even the usual suspect like Japanese Knotweed or Himalayan Balsam that us surveyors are typically scanning for—this is an aquatic monster growing up to 20 cm a day.
With Tewkesbury’s well-known history, the most alarming part is the immediate threat to the local flooding defences. These dense weeds choke up sluices, block culverts, and slow down water flow. In a town where every millimetre of river capacity matters, letting this build up is a massive gamble with local flood risks.
Which begs the question: Why is the council not abiding by the law here? 🛑📜
Under UK biosecurity and environmental legislation, there is a clear legal duty to prevent the spread of invasive, non-native species. Leaving it to fester feels like a major failure to protect our town’s infrastructure, ecology, and homes.
A slightly tenuous link to what we do: As property surveyors, we spend our lives ensuring people stick to the rules! It’s just frustrating to see the local authorities not holding themselves to that same standard when it comes to protecting the very waterways that define Tewkesbury. 📐✍️
Come on, Tewkesbury Borough Council / Environment Agency—let's get this sorted before winter sets in.

Jane emailed me earlier following a call she had returned for someone wanting a survey. "I have called back. He asked when we would inspect the mattress on his bed as it dips in the middle where he sleeps. I told him he must have called the wrong company 😄" Whatever next!

Smooth, easy and positive experience with a level 2 survey as first time buyers. Mike was thorough and very helpful in explaining things to us by phone the same day and when we had a follow up question. I was extremely pleased with the service I received from Mike at The Good Surveyor. I had a level 2 survey, which was comprehensive, clear, and easy to understand. It enabled me to prioritise any issues that needed addressing, both pre-contract and (less urgently) post-purchase. As promised, he rang me on the afternoon after the survey, and went over the main findings. He was also happy to have another conversation after I had received the report. I would definitely recommend.
