🌱 How to lay turf for a clean, striped finish!

Hi, I’m Olly, one of the owners of Gloucester Home and Garden 👋

In this video, I’m showing you how to lay turf to achieve a neat striped pattern, finished off with a tidy border for that professional look.

Getting the layout right makes all the difference, so here are a few tips to help you get the best finish in your own garden.

🌱 From stoney soil to a brand-new lawn! 🌱

A serious transformation on these massive new builds in Chepstow, right on the River Severn. 🌊

We took the old, stoney ground and gave it a complete makeover — rotivated, raked, stones removed, seeded, then raked again to get it ready for a lush new field of grass. 💪🌿

We’ve just finished this bespoke pergola and decking combination, creating a fantastic outdoor space that’s perfect for relaxing and enjoying the garden.

We also built and installed 2 x 10ft farm-style wooden gates, adding both practicality and plenty of kerb appeal to the property. 🌳🚪

Turfed at the start of summer ☀️🌱

With the heatwave, barely a drop of rain and some seriously thirsty conditions, keeping new turf looking this good hasn’t been the easiest job…

But with the right preparation, plenty of care and knowing what we’re doing, we’ve kept it alive, healthy and thriving.

And now look at it. 👌🏼

Safe to say these have come up very nicely.

More lawns looking exactly how they should. 🌱💚

There’s nothing more rewarding than creating spaces that make a real difference.

We’re proud to have completed a fantastic installation of new pergolas at Hillview School in Hucclecote, helping to create welcoming outdoor learning spaces where children can learn, explore and enjoy being outside all year round.

At Gloucester Home & Garden Services, we believe great outdoor spaces aren’t just about how they look they’re about how they’re used. Knowing these pergolas will provide shelter, encourage outdoor education and create a place for pupils to gather makes this project especially meaningful.

A huge thank you to Hillview School for trusting us with this project. We hope the children and staff enjoy these new spaces for many years to come.
