Bathroom looking a bit tired but absolutely nothing wrong with the bathroom itself?

You don’t necessarily need a renovation.

Sometimes changing a few fixtures is enough to make it feel completely different.

Small upgrades, much less disruption and you can work with the bathroom you’ve already got.

I’m Sam, the plumber behind SW Plumbing Services.

I’ve been in the trade for over 15 years and I’m based in Glenrothes, covering Fife and surrounding areas.

September already!

We’re not quite at heating-on-all-day territory yet, but this is a good time to give a few things around the house a check before the colder weather arrives.

🔥 Turn your radiators on and make sure they’re heating evenly.

💧 Check around radiator valves for any little drips or signs of corrosion.

🚰 Sort that tap that’s been dripping or getting increasingly difficult to turn.

🚽 Listen out for toilets constantly running or taking longer than usual to refill.

Nothing dramatic. Just catching the little things now while they’re still little things.

I know, nobody wants to think about radiators in August… 😂

But if you spent last winter with one that leaked, didn’t heat properly, had a dodgy valve or just looked like it belonged in 1994, now is actually a great time to sort it.

Radiator repairs, replacements and upgrades are all part of what I do.

Get it sorted while you don’t desperately need it. Future you will be grateful. 👍

Summer might be disappearing far quicker than any of us would like, but outdoor tap season definitely isn’t over yet. 🌿🚰

Gardens still need watered, cars still need washed, dogs still get filthy and there’s plenty of outdoor cleaning to be done before autumn arrives.

I fit cold, hot, and hot & cold outdoor taps, depending on your property and what you need.

Still carrying buckets through the house?

Let’s sort that.

Fancy freshening up the kitchen or bathroom without ripping the whole thing out?

Start with the taps.

A modern mixer or pull-out kitchen tap can completely change the look of an existing sink and make it much nicer to use too.

Same goes for bathrooms. New taps, basin or bath fittings can give the room an instant lift without turning it into a renovation project.

Small job. Surprisingly big difference. 👌

Just a reminder that you don’t need a plumbing emergency to give me a call.

New dishwasher needing connected? Yep.

Leaking radiator valve? Yep.

Sink needing replaced? Yep.

Does your toilet have a personality of its own?

Needs two flushes.

Randomly starts filling itself.

Makes a noise in the middle of the night.

Needs the button pressed ‘just so’

If you’ve learned a special technique for operating your toilet, it probably needs fixing 😂

Flush mechanisms, fill valves, leaks, wobbly toilets and full replacements are all part of the everyday plumbing work I cover.

Every so often it’s worth reminding everyone what I actually do. So….

Moved house recently?

Before you get completely distracted choosing paint colours and deciding where the sofa’s going, spend half an hour getting familiar with the boring stuff.

Because boring becomes VERY interesting when water starts appearing somewhere it shouldn’t 🙈

Find your stopcock and make sure you can actually turn it.

Have a look underneath the kitchen and bathroom sinks for old leaks or damp.

Check the toilets flush and refill properly.

Run the showers and check around the tray or bath afterwards.

Have a look at radiator valves for any signs of leaking or corrosion.

And if the previous owners have left you with taps or fixtures you absolutely hate, you don’t necessarily need to redo the whole room.

Replacing a tired sink, tap or toilet can make a surprisingly big difference.

If you’ve moved into a new home around Fife and you’ve inherited a few plumbing jobs along with the keys, give me a shout. 👍
