How many materials is too many? 👀

There’s quite a bit going on in this garden when you actually break it down…

Natural sandstone.
Composite decking.
Artificial lawn.
Stone cladding.
Decorative aggregates.
Timber fencing.
And a bespoke timber pergola.

On paper, that could easily become a bit of a mess. 😂

But that’s where the design and the details come in. If done right there's no such thing as to many

Materials don't all need to match, they need to complement each other.

The sandstone brings the natural variation, the composite gives the raised area a warmer finish, the dark cladding adds contrast and the timber pergola gives the whole upper section some structure.

Even the wide composite steps aren't just there to get you from A to B, they help connect the two levels and make the deck feel like part of the garden rather than something that's simply been dropped into it.

Different materials. Different textures. One complete space. 👌

Scottish weather doing its best to ruin the photos again… 🌧️😂

But we'll take it, because that composite looks pretty good in the rain. 👌

This is the sort of job where the little details make the difference.

Picture-framed edges.
Full-width steps.
Cladded sides so there's no exposed framework.
Clean lines around every change in direction.

A composite deck isn't just about screwing some boards down and calling it finished. The framework underneath, board layout, finishing details and how everything ties together are what determine how good it actually looks when it's done.

And yes… sometimes you've got to stand back in the pouring rain to appreciate it. 😂

THIS is why we always say a garden shouldn’t stop working when the sun goes down. 🌙🔥

We spend so much time showing gardens photographed during the day that sometimes you forget what they can become at night.

This one is a perfect example. A recent project that the client has furnished and got external lighting set up.

The timber pergola gives the garden a proper destination, somewhere to sit, switch off and actually enjoy the space. Then once the lighting comes on, it becomes a completely different garden. 👌I can see many a bottle of wine being consumed under this roof 😂

And this is where the little decisions during the design and build start paying off. Positioning, lighting, paving, screening, seating areas… individually they're simple details, but together they create an outdoor space that feels like an extension of the home.

No filters needed. No fancy sales pitch.

Just a cracking garden being used exactly how it was intended. 🙌

We might be the best there is , we might not be but things like this tell a story 📜 and truth be told we know how good we are 😉

We work hard to deliver jobs daily , we work hard behind the scenes to build relationships to ensure our material lines and contacts to suppliers and manufacturers are as solid as they can be, this helps us deliver our standards on a daily basis so even a little shout out like this helps make it all worth it so we appreciate it ♥️

All NU started off the back of an idea and a bit of determination and every year we grow and truth be told we aren't going to stop 🙌🏼

Now THIS is a before & after. 👀

Same house. Same frontage. Very different first impression.

The original driveway did the job for a while, but there was a huge amount of unused space sitting as lawn. We opened the frontage up and created a proper full-width driveway, giving the client far more usable parking while completely changing the look of the property.

And rather than just making it a massive sea of block paving, the contrasting border gives it definition and breaks the whole area up nicely and in a small area for planting and its a whole different vibe 👌

These are the transformations we love because they're not just about making something look better, the space genuinely works better for the client afterwards.

Sometimes the biggest difference isn't changing the size of space… it's making better use of the space you've already got. 🙌
