Another job finished on the Isle of Bute 📸

This time, it was a boundary wall that needed a bit of attention.

The blockwork was beaded, meshed and given a base coat before being finished in Sika Monorex GM, Mouse Grey.

We went for a scraped finish, and I’m really happy with the result. The colour works well with the existing copings and has completely changed the look of the wall.

If you’re interested in some rendering, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. All rendering systems are specified by the manufacturer to give you the best possible results and guarantee.

🏆 WE’RE FINALISTS — IN TWO CATEGORIES! 🏆

Absolutely delighted to announce that Campbell Plastering & Rendering has been named a finalist at the Scottish Home Improvement Awards 2026 in:

⭐ Scotland’s Best Roughcasting/Plastering Firm
⭐ Outstanding Customer Service

What makes it even more special is that this is now the second year running we’ve been recognised in the Scotland’s Best Roughcasting/Plastering Firm category. To be nominated once was a massive achievement, but to be back again this year means a lot and shows we’re continuing to move in the right direction.

Being recognised for Outstanding Customer Service as well is something I’m especially proud of. I’ve always tried to make sure customers get more than just a good finish — reliability, communication and looking after their property are just as important.

A massive thank you to everyone who has trusted us with their work, recommended us, shared our posts and supported the business. None of this happens without our customers.

Two nominations, second year running in the plastering category… now we’ll see what awards night brings! 🤞🏆

A recent garage conversion required a section of roughcast to be repaired and matched back into the existing finish. 👌

Matching the existing roughcast is what makes the difference between a patch that stands out and one that disappears. That’s exactly what we aim for on every repair.

For this patch, we used Buttermilk K Rend with Bright Stone Cream chip to achieve the closest match possible.

We’re fully insured and SEPA registered, so if you choose us to remove your waste, you can rest assured it’s being disposed of legally and responsibly.

A nice transformation completed this week.

This boundary wall had seen better days, so we stripped it right back and started again.

✔️ Old render and roughcast hacked off
✔️ New coping stones fitted
✔️ High polymer basecoat with reinforcing mesh
✔️ New beads fitted throughout
✔️ Finished in a fresh white roughcast

As always, the preparation is just as important as the finish. Taking the time to do it properly gives the customer a finish that’s made to last.

Another big transformation completed by Campbell Plastering & Rendering 👌

This chimney had definitely seen better days — tired old render, exposed brickwork, weathered faces and plenty of years’ worth of wear from being right on the coast.

We stripped it right back, prepared the background properly, fitted new beads, applied a strong reinforced basecoat and finished it off with a clean silicone render system to give it a fresh, sharp and long-lasting finish.

Jobs like this are all about the prep. It’s not just about making it look good on the day — it needs to stand up to the Bute weather as well 🌧️💨

Really happy with how this one turned out, and even better to receive a great review from the customer afterwards. I’ll post that along with the photos 👏

Another external job tidied up and protected 👌

This gable/chimney breast area had seen better days — old loose render hacked off, brickwork cleaned back, prepped properly, then re-rendered and finished in white roughcast to match in with the property.

Access was a bit awkward and the weather had to be on our side, but it’s made a massive difference from where it started.

All solid again, weatherproofed, and looking much cleaner.

Nice little transformation on this one 👌

The original wall was tired, patchy and needing taken right back before any new finish could go on properly.

Once it was all prepped right, base coated and dashed, it came up spot on and made a massive difference to the full area.

Always worth doing the prep right first — that’s what gives you the finish at the end.

9/10 jobs where fireplaces have been removed are patched up badly… this was one of them 👎

We stripped it back, dry lined the opening and packed out any gaps with adhesive to bring it back flush with the wall.

Scrimmed and beaded, then a full skim over the whole wall to tie everything in 👌

Now it’s:
✔️ Flat
✔️ Solid
✔️ Ready for paint

Once it’s painted you’d never know it was ever there 👍

Another tired old garage brought back to life this week!

This one had blown render, exposed blockwork and years of weather damage, so the old coating had to be cut out and repaired before we could start the new system.

We installed a high-polymer basecoat to strengthen and level the walls, followed by a fresh white top coat finish to completely transform the building.

To keep everything looking sharp we also beaded around the metal trims and edges, giving the garage clean lines and a much more modern look.

The difference from start to finish is huge — the garage now looks fresh, protected and ready for many more years of Scottish weather.

If you have tired render, cracked walls or roughcast needing repaired or refreshed, feel free to get in touch.
