❤️🖤 THE STORY BEHIND KEENAN DAMP & TIMBER DECAY SPECIALISTS – ESTABLISHED 2009 🖤❤️
Every family business has a story, and this is ours.
Back in 2009, we made the decision to start our own family business, Keenan Damp & Timber Decay Specialists.
But our story actually began many years before that.
John had been working in the damp proofing and timber preservation industry since he was a teenager. Over the years, he gained a wealth of knowledge, experience and practical skills, working with many of the industry’s biggest and most well-known companies.
He had seen how the industry operated, learned from years of hands-on experience and developed a real passion for his trade.
But John had a vision of doing things differently.
He believed that every customer deserved first-class workmanship, honest advice, fair prices and a personal service, regardless of whether the job was big or small.
He wanted customers to feel confident that they were receiving the right advice, that unnecessary work wouldn’t be recommended and that they were paying a fair price for quality workmanship.
And so, in 2009, Keenan Damp & Timber Decay Specialists was born.
❤️ BUT THERE WAS ANOTHER VERY SPECIAL REASON… FAMILY.
At the time, our son was preparing to leave school and was keen to learn a trade.
From his early teenage years, he had spent weekends working alongside his dad, watching, learning and getting his hands dirty.
He decided that plastering was the trade he wanted to pursue.
And what better combination could there be?
Damp proofing and timber treatments often involve removing damaged plaster and restoring walls once the underlying problems have been treated.
Having a skilled plasterer working alongside a damp and timber specialist meant we could offer customers a more complete service, from identifying and treating the problem to putting their homes back together.
It was an opportunity to build something together as a family, pass on skills from one generation to the next and create a business we could all be proud of.

Since 2009, we’ve experienced the highs and lows that come with running a small family business.
There have been challenges, long days, early mornings and plenty of hard work.
But one thing has never changed.
Our belief that good workmanship, honesty and treating people fairly should always come first.
We’re not a large national company with expensive advertising campaigns, huge overheads or shareholders to satisfy.
We’re a small, independent family business, built on years of experience, personal recommendations and the trust of our customers.
