🏠 ANOTHER ROOF TRANSFORMATION COMPLETED BY J CONNELL ROOFING 🏠

Another full roof renewal completed by the team in Giffnock, with the project completed in just 2½ days despite working through all weather conditions — nothing stops us! 💪🌧️

The existing slate roof had reached the stage where nail deterioration (nail rot) had developed, which is a common issue with older slate roofs as the original fixings deteriorate over time. The existing roof covering was therefore stripped back to allow us to install a complete new roofing system.

The works included:

🔨 Removal of the existing slate roof
🔨 New code 5 lead installed around chimney
🔨 Installation of a breathable roofing membrane
🔨 treated counter & tile battens installed to provide ventilation and drainage behind the tile battens
🔨 Finished with Marley Grey Ludlow Major tiles
🔨 Roof ventilation installed to allow the roof construction to breathe and help minimise condensation
🔨 Removal of the old cast iron roof window
🔨 Installation of a new modern fenstro roof window, giving the finished roof a clean and weather-tight finish

🏠 NEW ROOF PROJECT – POLLOKSHIELDS, GLASGOW 🏠

We’re well underway with this substantial roofing project in Pollokshields, Glasgow, with excellent progress being made on site.

The existing roof has been fully stripped, including the removal of the original horsehair felt, which is certainly one of the more labour-intensive and messier stages of the process. With the roof now fully prepared, the re-slating works are progressing well using CUPA Heavy 3 natural slates — selected for their quality, durability and excellent finish.

As part of the works, we are also carrying out a complete renewal of the roof’s leadwork, including all chimneys and valleys, ensuring these critical areas are properly detailed and weatherproofed.

The project also includes the installation of new aluminium OG gutters throughout, together with new cast iron downpipes, providing a durable and sympathetic finish to complement the property.

Every aspect of the project is being carried out with careful attention to detail, from the initial strip and preparation through to the final slate and finishing works.
