Last week, we were delighted to welcome our new intake of Trainee Engineers to Mackenzie Construction.

They have joined the business at an exciting time of growth and will work alongside our experienced site teams to develop the skills, knowledge, and practical experience they need launch their careers in the construction industry.

Alongside hands-on experience across a range of sites, each trainee will be supported by an experienced mentor throughout their journey. They will also work towards their formal qualifications through day-release study at Glasgow Kelvin College.

To help them settle in, we ran an induction week covering the essential training and valuable insight into our operations they'll need before heading out to site.

We are delighted to welcome them to the Mackenzie Construction team and wish them all the very best on this new adventure!

Earlier this month, we hosted an Excel Training Course at our HQ Training Centre as part of our ongoing commitment to employee training and development.

The course focused on real construction scenarios rather than generic exercises, with each Site Manager building their own live project progress and cost tracker dashboard to take straight onto site, alongside an introduction to AI integration.

This reflects our continued investment in equipping our employees with the digital skills to work more efficiently and effectively.

Based in England and operating from our Newcastle and Stafford offices, Mike brings more than 30 years of experience across the construction and infrastructure sectors, having played a key role in delivering major projects throughout the UK.

From motorways and rail electrification schemes to airport developments and large-scale infrastructure projects, Mike's expertise, leadership and people-focused approach make him a fantastic addition to the team.

On Friday, the team came together to mark the retirement of Alex Lynch, Concrete Repair Operative, after 7 years of dedicated service with Mackenzie Construction.

To recognise Alex’s contribution, Andy Dalrymple and Mark Wilson presented him with a gift on behalf of the Company and thanked him for his hard work and commitment over the years.

Mackenzie Construction were delighted to attend the River Park ribbon-cutting celebration on Saturday, marking the completion of the main construction phase of this transformational project in Levenmouth.

Representing Mackenzie Construction, Construction Director, Mark Wilson joined local community groups, partners and stakeholders to celebrate a scheme that has been more than five years in the making. The event showcased the incredible collective effort behind River Park, with the ribbon cut by representatives from the many organisations and groups that helped bring the vision to life.

The carnival atmosphere reflected the importance of the occasion, with community stalls, activities and events bringing people of all ages together.

Mackenzie Construction is proud to be working alongside The Leven Programme to help deliver River Park. Our involvement has focused on improving accessibility through new pathways and boardwalks, enhancing biodiversity with wildflower meadows and water management features, and helping create a destination that connects Levenmouth's rich industrial heritage with a sustainable future.

Projects like River Park demonstrate what can be achieved when communities, local organisations and delivery partners work together towards a shared vision. It is inspiring to see this new space taking shape and beginning to deliver lasting benefits for residents and visitors alike.

As a proud sponsor of The Hearts and Balls Charitable Trust we were delighted for the Hearts + Balls MB women's team who won the final of the London International 7s Tournament Series elite 7's at The National Pub Sevens in Harpenden at the weekend. Congratulations also go to the HBMB men's team who made it to the final but narrowly missed out on the win.
