Great to see press coverage in the The Herald of our ongoing project with Logie Estate. A new hub for local businesses and makers, alongside improved facilities for estate ops. All developed around locally grown timber and bio-based insulation. Link in bio.

Structure as lining - three cabins in Ardnamurchan, in the Scottish Highlands. Cabins afford opportunities that larger buildings don’t. A more distinctive and distilled character, and the intimacy of detail. The structural approach we’ve developed for this project sits between the exposed frame of a simple cabin, and a more refined panelled wall. Douglas fir lap jointed lattice over a fabric lining.

We’re delighted to be included in the Architecture Foundation’s latest New Architects publication, now in its fifth addition. It’s felt nicely timed for us, coinciding with the launch of our new website and our recent (slightly unexpected) award successes. We’ve had our heads down but have lots of new work to share in the coming months.

We’re delighted to have won a RIBA National Award for own own little house in Plockton iorram.

The absolute gentleman, Chris Dyson, who visited as chair of the RIAS jury said “Every junction, timber beam and skylight has been meticulously considered, producing interiors that feel alive, tactile, and deeply intentional”.

Delighted to have planning approved for a new home, studio, and workshop spaces within a former steading complex in rural Perthshire. A new pavilion structure formed with deep stone columns and a biodiverse roof, is positioned among the ruined walls of former cattle barns. This new addition defines a series of private courtyard gardens with different characters. Existing barns are inhabited lightly, with compact insulated insertions or minimal intervention to retain an ‘as found’ quality.

We’re working on a number of new rural homes in the Highlands at the moment. During early design stages our approach oscillates between thinking at a landscape scale - climate and context - the scale of a room or experience of space, as well as at the scale of material and available resources. These considerations all overlap. Model images are for a new house in Lochalsh - 1:200.
