There’s a gap between imagining a new garden and actually living in one. For most people, it’s longer than they expect — around six months, from the first conversation to the first evening spent in it.

We share this openly because it tends to come as a surprise. We’re genuinely proud to share that three of our projects have been named finalists at the APL Awards 2027, each one recognised in a different category. A quiet milestone for the studio, and a credit to the clients who trusted us with their gardens and the team who made each one real.

Three different categories, each rewarding a different dimension of the work — technical ambition, lifestyle integration, and considered design within a defined budget. We’re grateful to the APL for the recognition, and in very good company among the other finalists.

Winners announced at the ceremony in March 2027.

A garden transformation in progress in East Kilbride ➡️ we brought the lower sunken area to life with a bespoke corten steel retaining wall and integrated seating.

Our gardeners then softened all that hard landscaping with layered, grassy planting, bringing texture and movement.

Following our landscape architects bespoke lighting scheme we carefully installed fixtures to highlight the garden’s key features.

From welding and construction to planting and lighting, it’s all the little details that bring the garden design together.

A good material palette should feel cohesive, practical and right for its setting.

Here, four key materials helping shape this modern cottage garden in Ardrossan:

• The sustainable brick pavers echo the existing boundary walls;

• The gravel path help keep the circulation permeable and informal;

• Aluminium edging keeps those paths crisp without adding visual heaviness;

• The bespoke hardwood pergola adds warmth and privacy.

We love how relatively simple material choices can have such a big impact on the character and usability of a garden.
