This lovely cane-backed nursing chair went home today following a complete refurbishment: a polish touch-up, a newly-woven cane back, and a completely rebuilt sprung seat. My client chose a beautifully soft purple linen from Liberty Fabrics

🚨 New class alert! 🚨 Fancy learning upholstery in the evenings? Janneke of Flamingo Upholstery and I are launching a 3-week block of evening classes to make this gorgeous flat-topped footstool! Classes will be on 3 consecutive Tuesday evenings from 6-9pm. The first block starts on 22 September. The cost is £310. Frame, legs, and filling materials are included. Fancy learning the basics of upholstery while making a beautiful deep-buttoned footstool to take home? .upholstery and I are running our next weekend footstool course on 29-30 August at our South Street studio in Whiteinch. During the course you will learn how to safely use upholstery tools, how to build layers of filling, and how to make and fit buttons. The cost is £380 and includes the footstool frame, legs, and all filling materials. All you have to bring is yourself, your lunch, and 2 metres of upholstery fabric. After 50 years’ of use this shapely Habitat rocker was in need of a new seat panel! New cane is always slightly lighter than the existing panels but will slowly mellow to a darker shade.
My waiting list for caning jobs is currently closed, but I’m still open for upholstery enquiries.

Kitchen comfort! Bespoke window seat cushion made from comfy new reflex foam and covered in a plush velvet from Warwick Fabrics UK. Tenement windows are not always totally symmetrical so I visited my client’s home and made a template for the cushion to ensure a perfect fit. What a lovely spot! 🪴

FOR SALE! In need of a desk chair? This SKRUVSTA chair from IKEA has been newly reupholstered in beautiful Melrose wool and has a comfy new reflex foam cushion.

Completed as part of the requirements for my AMUSF Diploma in Upholstery (the UK’s principal accredited qualification for upholsterers) I’m selling this newly-upholstered swivel chair for the same price as new one in IKEA: £99. The cost of upholstering something like this in a quality wool would be much higher so grab yourself a bargain as I clear some space in my workshop!

Now you see them…now you don’t! Swipe left ⬅️ for the results of my repair to the front of this chair frame. As with many older pieces woodworm had left some small holes in the wood. I treated the chair, then filled the holes using hard wax. Holes as good as gone!
