JFSA enjoyed a successful evening at the Dundee Institute of Architects annual Awards Dinner at the Apex Hotel in Dundee on Friday evening with Perth Museum picking up the Awards for “Best Use of Timber”, “Best Regeneration” and also the “Supreme Award” at the culmination of the evening.
The judges for the Award commented that “the museum was a remarkable example of how thoughtful design and sensitive restoration can transform a historic building into a vibrant modern landmark. The project breathes new life into the former City Hall, preserving its civic grandeur and reinventing it as a world-class cultural venue.”
JFSA Partner, Paul Stephen, commented that the Award was a recognition of the hard work of our entire team, assisting BAM UK & Ireland to realise the design vision of Mecanoo Architects. Throughout the project we continued to work alongside Mecanoo, Perth and Kinross Council and Hub East Central Scotland to endeavour to ensure that the detailing of the project remained faithful to their vision for the regeneration of the building.
Paul also commented that the hard work of former JFSA Partner, the late Doug Reid, was instrumental in the success of the project, with Paul then “picking-up the reins” following Doug’s sad passing during the early construction stages. Our in-house team has also been key to success, including retired Associate/Architectural Technician Andrew Smith, Architectural Technician Callum Etchels and Conservation Architect and now Associate, David Peoples.
In addition, the wider Design Team consultants’ contributions to the project were invaluable. Worthy of particular mention are the teams from Metaphor, Goodson Associates , Atelier Ten among those who input to the successful realisation of this landmark project.
Paul Stephen and John Fyfe of Perth & Kinross Council collected the Awards on behalf of our Practice and wider project team at the DIA event on Friday evening.
