What is an FD30 fire door?

FD30 doors offer 30 minutes of fire resistance in the event of a fire. To be classed as a fire door, the integrity of the door and its components must offer the ability to withstand a fire for 30 minutes. ⏱️

Take a sneak peek at a handful of key FD30 door components:

1️⃣Door - FD30 doors usually have a 44mm thick core tested to the relevant standard
2️⃣Frames - Ideally, these should be purchased alongside the door to ensure they are manufactured using the correctly specified materials
3️⃣Intumescent Sealant - This is an acrylic substance that swells upon contact with heat, filling the gap between a fire door and its frame to prevent smoke or fire from passing through

In the short time that Tommy has been a part of the LFS team, he has made a big impact on the expansion of our business.

Tommy initially joined LFS to support a large-scale contract we were awarded, which helped cement our Midlands-based operations. Now, Tommy is responsible for supervising our large Midlands-based team, covering everything from surveys to fire stopping and from fire door installations to repairs and maintenance.

With all the additional contracts Tommy oversees, demand for our in-house factory has skyrocketed.

LFS is a product of the people who work here, and we could not be more proud of the team we have built.

Steve is no stranger to the responsibilities of a contracts manager, a role he has worked in for many years. Upon joining LFS, Steve entered a new world of passive fire protection solutions, a challenge he welcomed with open arms!

Starting a career in a new sector can be daunting, but Steve took it in his stride and has never looked back. Each day looks different for Steve, with responsibilities ranging from site visits, office admin work, client discussions and client meetings.

Steve simply adores the team at LFS, putting a great emphasis on just how friendly the company is 🤗

🔥📢 Say hello to Caroline Saville, our Fleet Manager 📢🔥

Before starting at LFS almost four years ago, Caroline had little experience in fleet management. That didn’t deter us! At LFS, we’re big believers in hiring people with the right attitude and providing training and opportunities to help them be great. Caroline dedicated her time to developing her skills and knowledge, and she now successfully manages 56 of our vehicles.

For Caroline, a typical day at LFS includes liaising with both our employees and our trusted subcontractors. Caroline runs a tight ship, which is important when you have 56 vehicles needed on dozens of different sites every day.

At LFS, we’re proud of our friendly team – everyone pitches in and relies on each other for support.

In Caroline's words, the team is a “good bunch of people,” and we couldn't agree more!

Martin's primary responsibilities include taking care of orders, conducting site visits to see what work needs to be done, arranging evaluations, and communicating directly with his clients.
