Tackling e-waste together 🤝

This International E-Waste Day we’ve joined forces with Newcastle Red Bulls - the club we’re proud to serve as Official Waste Management & Sustainability Sponsor - to spread an important message.

The UK is holding on to 880 million unused electricals, with £488 million in materials lost each year (Material Focus). If it’s got a cable or a plug, it can be recycled - and its materials recovered and put back to use.

Everything we do starts with waste and ends with something useful. We wanted to put that on a wall.

This is a visual story of everything GAP Group does - from the moment waste leaves a business, to where it ends up. Offices, schools, hospitals, retail, warehouses. Collected with care. Sorted, repaired, processed. Going back out as refurbished appliances into homes, recovered metals into industry, energy into communities, and nutrients into the land.

Not waste. A resource.

We're turning this into a wall installation - the image is a mock-up of how it could look.

This is what we're about. We thought it was worth sharing.

We're setting up a golf hole at Resource & Waste Management Expo (RWM Expo).

Except the hole is a tumble dryer. And not just any tumble dryer - it's a fully refurbished appliance from our Renew2U range, the kind that would normally be heading back into a home rather than onto an exhibition stand.

What a way to debut a new kit. 🔥

Whickham Fellside Flames U13 Girls kicked off their 2026/27 Russell Foster Tyne & Wear Premier League campaign this weekend against Jarrow Youth Lionesses - and it was a proper game. The lead changed hands throughout a highly contested match before finishing 3-3, with both sides refusing to give an inch from start to finish.

We're proud to be the kit sponsors for the Flames this season and absolutely delighted to support a group of girls playing top-flight football in the North East. Keep it up, Whickham - here's to a brilliant season ahead. ⚽💪

Last night we had the pleasure of presenting the boys' junior section of Whitburn & Cleadon Panthers with their new kits - and what a group to be sponsoring.

The U11s wasted no time putting them to work, kicking off pre-season with a 4-1 win. Not a bad start in the new kit. 👏

Coming off the back of a brilliant season - winning both the Winter League and Spring Cup - and with one of the boys selected to represent the district, there's plenty of momentum heading into the new campaign.

We're proud to support the club and can't wait to see what the new season brings. Get in there, Panthers! 🐾⚽

What does the future of WEEE recycling look like? Yesterday, we got to show some of our customers firsthand.

We hosted our first open day at the DEScycle pilot plant in Teesside - bringing clients including the team from Currys to see the technology in action rather than hear about it in a meeting room.

DEScycle's process recovers critical raw materials from printed circuit boards using Deep Eutectic Solvents - a cleaner, lower-energy alternative to traditional smelting that works across all grades of PCB. The materials come out in a usable form, recovered here in the UK.

For us, that's the part that matters most. Every tonne of circuit boards processed domestically is value that stays in the UK supply chain rather than being exported for someone else to recover. It's exactly the kind of innovation we want to be part of.

Thank you to Fred White and the DEScycle team for hosting, and to everyone who came along and asked the tough questions. That's how partnerships get better.

Congratulations to Wayne Farrer, our Employee of the Month.

Wayne has gone above and beyond to help keep our operations running smoothly, stepping up to support both yards while colleagues were away and ensuring customers continued to receive the level of service they expect.

Wayne also played an important role in helping prevent a trailer fire from escalating, demonstrating the awareness, teamwork and calm approach that are so important in our operational environments.

His commitment to supporting the wider team and keeping things moving makes a real difference to our customers.
