🌿 It's great to be creating another wildlife pond 😀.
🌿 I was on site to make sure of the pond shaping.
🌿 It was so warm the liner was red-hot, but my feet were blissfully cool as we filled up the water😅

We're looking forward to returning to Lindsey's for the final phase - since we planted in midsummer we saved the bulbs for autumn, so they'll going in shortly so we will get our first flowers in late winter - early spring. After such a long, hot summer we're excited to see how the garden has changed and to enjoy the cooler moments.

Here’s a close-up of our recent garden makeover - we’re especially fond of the espalier apple paired with lavender, salvia, oregano, thyme and Helichrysum italicum (curry plant). In the shadier area we mixed iberis, heuchera, ferns, eryngium, black mondo grass and hellebore for evergreen structure and flowers throughout the seasons.

Wrought iron accessibility railings for a compact garden - elegant yet safe support. These were made bespoke by a local blacksmith: Allan Ostell, www.aostell.com, who couldn't have been more obliging and careful. He was also great at keeping everyone updated about the design & progress.
Hope you like the chimney pot planting too 😄 .

Although I didn’t take home a prize at the Pro Landscaper Awards, seeing my garden on the big screen and meeting so many lovely people made the evening special. It confirmed for me that the landscaping industry is full of creative, kind people. Huge thanks to the team at Beth Chatto Plants & Gardens for taking me under their wing, and to everyone at my table for showing me that dedication to our work is valued.

✨️ 'We've spent more time in the garden than we've ever done before!' ✨️
🌿 One of last year's gardens - a contemporary makeover with a lawn for the grandchildren, plenty of seating at the sunny end, and soft pastel borders.
🌿 Surprisingly, there's hidden accessibility aids, but you'd never know.
🌿 Hope you enjoy the before and after transformations!

🌿 What to say about concrete?! It's a bit of a dry topic 😉
🌿 Well, this accessibility ramp is surfaced with porous resin bound gravel, laid over porous concrete - yes, concrete that the water goes straight through!
🌿 Did you know that was possible? I didn't!
🌿 Now that I know how effective this drainage solution is I'm thinking of specifying it for a steeply sloping driveway, under an octagonal greenhouse, and possibly under a water-staircase water-feature too 😅

✨ What an amazing experience! ✨
Quietly deadheading in my front garden, when this tiny creature whizzed by me then stopped to feed on the Red Valerian nectar!
🌿 Now, I certainly didn't plant the Red Valerian, it put itself there and I enjoyed its company so I left it. But I hadn't expected to find it was a favourite with this precious Hummingbird Hawk Moth too!
🌿 Red Valerian is gorgeous but a total thug, so I've been pulling it out of all the nooks and crannies it's spread to 🙄. I'll be preserving some for sure now though!
😅 Apologies for the poor image quality - I was so pleased to manage to capture it at all ✨
