6 weeks ago I attended my first ceasefire march in London. I was nervous, out of my comfort zone and a bit frightened. A more protest seasoned friend held my hand throughout, I wasn't alone.
I was moved to attend, partly, because I refuse to go quietly as decisions and actions I strongly disagree with are being carried out in my name.
It turns out my fear of the march were unfounded, I'd never felt more unity and community with so many thousands of people from different demographics. We called fiercely for peace. I saw and shed many tears. I laughed alone and in unison with others. I felt safe, and part of something very powerful.
The people acting against my will, on my behalf, understand the power of protest better than I did. I understand now.
I will not go on quietly. They do not act in my name.
