Delight to receive planning approval and Listed Building Consent on this Grade II* listed building this week to raise the parapet on the rear and install a new standing seam metal roof on the extended part of the building to the rear.

Working with the planning officer and conservation officer we have revived the look of the expended part of the building with the cotemporary roof. The existing roof is very shallow and the previous owners had installed tiles that were not designed for a pitch of 12.5 degrees. This had led to the roof leaking. The installation of the standing seam roof will stop this from happening and the raising of the parapet will ensure good flashing detailing can be achieved. It's through good detailing that buildings can be designed to last.

I'd like to thank all my clients, contractors and consultants previous, current and future that I've worked with. I've had a fabulous year and hope the next is as good as this one.

Another week and another Planning Approved!

My client wanted a loft conversion to her bungalow, an attached garage and gym room. The loft space has been transformed with a large master bedroom, ensuite and dressing room. The master bedroom has a picture window to the front which will get great views of the River Test. There is another bedroom with ensuite on the first floor. On the ground floor a bedroom to the rear has been merged with the kitchen to make a large open plan kitchen/ diner. A utility room has been added. Towards the front of the building two small bedrooms have become one large bedroom. The two bay windows will be demolished and will become one large bay window again with views of the River Test. The parking to the front of the bungalow has been improved and retaining walls moved with landscaping put in too.

The project wasn't without it's trials and tribulations as bats were found in the existing loft. There were 3 bat emergence surveys which can only be completed from May to September which has delayed the project in planning. We have added 5 bat boxes to the gables at the front and rear of the building to mitigate this.

However I'm delighted with the result for my client and she is very happy too.

Delighted to get planning approved this week for this project in Charlton Musgrove. My clients wanted to extend the property over the two floors to suit the family as they grow up. There is a large kitchen/ diner to the rear with a large lantern above and bifold doors and a new ground floor shower room. The existing detached double garage is to be demolished and replaced with an attached utility room, office and single garage. The existing bathroom has been moved to the first floor. One of the existing bedrooms has an ensuite. The first floor extension is a large master bedroom also with an ensuite. A porch has also been added to the front.

I think it looks great and improves the flow for the house and will make a great family home for their young children to grow in to.

Absolutely chuffed to get Listed Building Consent today for my clients today who have recently purchased a building in Trowbridge.
The ground floor will be renovated and remain as a shop.
The first and second floors will become a fantastic maisonette.
I think that the refurbishment will make great use of what is at the moment a very run down property.

Well it seems it's the week for planning approvals! It's fantastic to get this project approved in a conservation area in Frome.

My clients recently bought a three bed mid-terraced house which had a small extension to the rear which wouldn't work for their family of five. The scheme removes the existing rear extension and replaces it with a larger extension to house a new kitchen/ diner, utility and shower room. We also created another bedroom on the first floor with a first floor extension, which means all their children will have their own bedrooms. There is a lantern over the kitchen to provide natural light to the now middle of the house.

The existing and proposed pictures tell the story perfectly and we've made the best use of the space.

Delighted to get planning approved yesterday for a loft conversion in Shrewton yesterday. This will provide my clients a large master bedroom, walk in wardrobe and ensuite.

A building regulations full plans check and construction package is next on the list for this project. I can't wait to see it in construction.

I think you'll agree from the images that this will be a great addition to their house.

Who said Friday 13th is a bad day? Planning was approved for this project today in Frome.

My clients existing conservatory was either too hot or too cold and too small for their family. They also wanted to convert the garage into a gym/ office space.

As you can see from the pictures I hit the brief and now on to do the construction and building regulations package.

Its been busy at SDS recently. This project in Trowbridge gained planning last month and this week the building regulations full plans check was submitted to Wiltshire Council. It's now out for pricing with several contractors.

The project gives the client a new kitchen and bedroom. It also creates a utility room with WC, larger dining area, storage space and office to the ground floor. We have also created an ensuite to the first floor. The juillet balcony to the new bedroom gives a great aspect view over the brook and fields beyond.
