I’m now booking a small number of garden design projects to begin in 2027. ✨

I’ve made the decision to take on fewer full garden design projects each year, allowing me to give more time to each garden, while also making more space in my practice for my Garden Design Clinics.

January is the design start date, but getting things moving now can be really valuable. Here's why 👇🏼

Good landscapers often book well ahead, so where appropriate, we can start conversations early and look at securing a potential build slot while the design develops.

It’s an approach that has worked particularly well for a number of my clients this year, giving us the breathing room to design properly, while having a realistic timeframe for bringing the garden to life.

If 2027 is the year you’d like to change your garden, DM me with JANUARY and we can start the conversation.

And if you’re curious about my Garden Design Clinics, I’ll be sharing much more about them in this month’s newsletter, dropping this Friday, including how they work and how to book one of the limited monthly spaces.

Introducing myself with a selfie feels a little old school, but forgive me, the light was 👌 Autumn is properly here, and I’m back in my happy place: outside, wrapped in far too many layers. 🍂

I’m Diane, and this photo was taken this morning at Stourhead, a National Trust garden very dear to my heart and just down the road from Frome.

I’ve been coming here for decades, and it holds so many memories of my Dad in particular. Now, walking these same paths with my own boys, aged 3 and 9, often brings happy tears. I hear him, see him and feel him here, and there’s a lot of comfort in that. Places hold memories. I think that’s one of the things I love most about gardens.

It can be bittersweet, of course, but there’s something rather beautiful about being unexpectedly transported back to a person, a moment or a feeling. A little like when someone you’ve lost returns to you in a dream.

Perhaps because of this, and my earlier career working in Arts & Health in the NHS, I’ve always had a soft spot for memory, nostalgia and the emotional connection we form with places.

It’s a huge part of why my approach to garden design is story-led. How a garden looks is important, of course, but I’m honestly far more interested in how it feels.
Bringing the soul back into a space, or simply recognising what’s already there and letting it shine, is everything to me.

I really do love what I do. 💚

If you feel like your garden has lost a little of its soul, or perhaps it’s there but you’re not quite sure how to bring it out, that’s exactly the kind of thing I love helping with. Come and have a chat.

Phase Two, Part One incoming ✨

I was delighted to be back working on this fabulous project for the loveliest family in Frome, after kicking off 2026 with a bang! (Scroll to the end for a little reminder of where we started. Apologies for the photos – I know there are newer ones somewhere!)

With the courtyard so beautifully executed by the incredible Sanders Landscapes- Garden Design & Build, we knew we had to bring some of that same magic to the front of the property.

The new driveway design brings together beautiful Purbeck flagstones from London Stone, paired with Egyptian limestone pitchers from Allgreen and bespoke steel raised beds by BathBespokeSteel.

Soft, considered planting brings everything together, softening the façade and making the clients’ new home truly sing.

Never underestimate the importance of your front garden. It's so much more than a driveway or a route to your front door. It sets the tone for your entire home, creates that all-important sense of arrival and makes coming home feel that little bit more special.

And there's still more to come! ✨

And just like that, September is almost over 🍂

It’s been a month of finishing, refining and quietly putting the foundations in place for what comes next.

✨ Two gardens are moving into their second phase, with technical design packages being developed and build work due to commence over the next month.

✨ Planting season has officially begun, and I’m looking forward to planting up a handful of gardens now the summer heat is behind us.

✨ The Garden Design Clinic is almost here , a half-day, one-to-one creative session designed to give you a clear direction now, so that this time next year, your garden could feel completely different.

✨ I’ll also be sharing more about The Arrival Audit, created in collaboration with Classical Feng Shui practitioner Zoë Vita James. Together, we explore how the energy around your home and entrance could better support abundance, opportunity and a greater sense of alignment. Zoë reveals what’s happening energetically, and I translate those findings into practical garden design direction.

✨ My monthly newsletter is making a proper return, with more thoughts on gardens, design and the stories behind the spaces I create.

✨ And finally, Beyond Pinterest is coming - a new quiz designed to help you step away from endless saving and scrolling, uncover what you actually want from your garden and find a clearer, more personal direction forward.

October feels like the beginning of a new chapter for the studio, bringing together everything I’ve been developing behind the scenes and finally putting it out into the world. I’m excited to share what’s coming. 🍂🍁

The clues are always there 🔎

One of the biggest things I can give my clients is a fresh pair of eyes. To see what they’ve stopped seeing and find a clear way forward. Because when you’ve lived somewhere for long enough, you become blind to what’s right in front of you.

Creativity was at the heart of this bespoke design. It felt playful at the time, but looking back, I’m in awe of my client’s bravery. Because it takes guts to make something this personal.

To ignore what’s expected. To resist watering down the idea. To not worry whether everyone else will get it.

She knew what she loved and had the conviction to go all in. No playing it safe. No designing for the next person. 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼 Unapologetically hers.

And that’s exactly why it works. 👏🏼

I’m in the process of refreshing my services and I’m seriously giddy about this one ✨

I think it might be my favourite yet.

It feels like I’ve bottled up all the best bits of being a garden designer and turned them into four fabulously creative hours together.

Do you know why I got into garden design in the first place? To create. To express myself. To shake off the confines of working in the NHS and play 🌿

And that’s exactly what The Garden Design Clinic is about.

Four hours together around the table, playing with ideas, getting creative, dreaming a little bigger, solving the bits that have had you stuck and working out what your garden could actually become ✏️

Then we translate all of that thinking into a hand-drawn garden plan that you can literally walk out the door with.

No months of waiting. No enormous design process. Just you, me, four focused hours and a garden direction you can actually do something with.

This is just a cheeky glimpse for now 👀

Listen to your body.

That was today’s theme. After a terrible night’s sleep (including watching a hedgehog on my doorstep at 3am!) I woke up exhausted and feeling a bit under the weather.

In the diary was a talk by Hector’s Herbs at the Walled Garden in Mells and something told me I needed to go.

Hector is a trained herbalist and naturopath, with his own personal journey into herbal medicine, and his knowledge is incredible. He talked about medicinal plants, traditional uses, growing and harvesting herbs, and the quality of what we actually use, including his work with fresh herbs from a UK biodynamic farm.

It completely opened up another way of thinking about plants for me.

I’m already thinking about how I can bring more of this knowledge into my designs, not just choosing plants for how they look, but considering what they can offer us too.

Sunshine, plants and two hours learning from someone who really knows his stuff. Exactly the tonic I needed. 🌿⚕️

The children have gone off to university. Life is shifting a little, and after years of everything else taking priority, there’s finally more space to think about you again.

And perhaps the garden that has been sitting at the bottom of the to-do list is ready to come back into focus.

This recent Garden Edit was exactly that. Not starting again, but looking at what was already there with fresh eyes. Reclaiming quickly became the energy behind this consultation - reclaiming the garden, the views, but perhaps most importantly, space and time for herself again.

I honestly left with a lump in my throat. I felt, to my core, how much this next chapter meant to my client. It was a real privilege to help her see what was possible and find a clear direction for a garden, and a chapter that had waited patiently for its turn.

🌿

Over the past nine months, I’ve completed a number of these consultations, and I’m now bringing everything I’ve learnt into a refreshed Garden Edit, making the experience even more visual, useful and inspiring.

It officially launches next month, but I have one final consultation space available in September. 💫

If life has finally created a little more room for your garden and for yourself, perhaps now is the time to use it.

Message me “GARDEN EDIT” and I’ll send you the details.
