Old walls need lime mortar, not cement. 🧱
Most houses built before the 1880s were put together with lime mortar. Lime is soft and breathable, so moisture can get into the wall and back out again. Cement is hard and holds that moisture in, and over time the brick or stone around it can start to crumble.
That's why we repoint period properties in lime mortar, mixed to suit the building and matched using local sands.
