🪚 It's not until the old gate comes out that you sometimes discover the real challenge.

This recent installation in Curzon Park, Chester looked fairly straightforward at first, but once the old gate and timber post were removed, the real challenge became clear.

The brick pillar was leaning forwards, something that couldn't be seen until the existing post was removed. Once exposed, it became apparent that the pillar sat over 150 mm behind the existing wall-mounted post. That post had already been left in place by the plasterer, with the new render finished around it, so removing it simply wasn't an option.

That meant the original plan had to change completely.
After another trip to the timber merchants and a rethink on site, the installation was adapted to work with the existing structure while still achieving a straight, secure and professional finish.

Problems like this can't always be predicted—but they can be overcome with the right approach, experience and a willingness to adapt.
The end result is a bespoke gate that not only looks right but is built to last.

😂 Confession time...

How many of us have a gate that...
