We were called out to inspect this mature oak in Ferndown after the owner discovered fungus at its base.

On closer inspection, we identified the fungus as Ganoderma. An application was submitted to the council, who described it as one of the worst cases they had seen in some time. Given the tree’s condition and its proximity to the building, it was agreed that it posed too great a risk to retain.

With less than a metre between the tree and the building, restricted access and branches overhanging the property, this was a challenging removal that required careful planning and controlled dismantling.

The BRW team did a fantastic job, safely bringing the tree down without any damage to the surrounding property. A job well done in a very tight space. 🌳

⚠️ Not every tree is safe to climb.

This Scots pine had developed a severe lean and had become increasingly unstable, making it a danger at one of our commercial client’s sites.

Every cut had to be carefully planned, and due to the movement in the tree we even used a breakaway carabiner as an extra safety precaution in case the stem shifted unexpectedly.

Thankfully, everything went to plan and the tree was dismantled safely without incident, leaving the site safe and ready for normal use again. 🌲✅

🌳 Another successful tree removal completed at the historic St Peter’s Church, Portland.

This mature sycamore had unfortunately developed a significant union separation, making it structurally unsafe. Following a thorough assessment, the removal was approved by the local authority, with complete removal identified as the safest and most appropriate course of action.

Our team carefully dismantled the tree to protect the historic church and surrounding area, carrying out the work safely, efficiently, and with minimal disruption.

Another dangerous tree safely removed by BRW Tree Surgeons. 🌳

This mature eucalyptus had unfortunately reached the point where removal was the only safe option.

Following our inspection, we found extensive Ganoderma fungal decay, which had caused approximately 60% of the main stem to rot, significantly reducing the tree’s structural strength. To make matters worse, the tree also had a large union separation, creating an increased risk of major limb or stem failure.

While it’s always a shame to remove a mature tree, safety must always come first when decay has progressed this far.
