It was an absolute HONOUR to welcome Hugh Hawkins and his lovely wife Ann to Meridian House last week to unveil our Hugh Hawkins training room!

Hugh is the legend of all legends in RACHP training and we could not be prouder to honour him. In fact, Hugh actually taught most of the Meridian team including Sam, Shaun & also Paul who qualified under Hugh over 30 years ago.

We spent the most wonderful day with Hugh, this man is pure magic. Much reminiscing, lots of laughs and we are in awe of Hugh's memory for all of his students names, memories of them and the actual years they trained.

We are thrilled to announce that the absolute RACHP genius John North has joined the team at Meridian RACHP Training...

John has worked for 20 years as a lecturer, assessor and verifier at Eastleigh and Portsmouth Colleges teaching thousands of students and continues his work as a consultant for City & Guilds.

Alongside teaching short courses in FGAS, Hydrocarbons and brazing, John will also lead the launch of our BESA Essential Electrics & Refrigeration Electrics short courses in early 2026. Keep your eyes peeled for the course dates.

A huge Meridian welcome to you John, the team are excited to be working with you!

Wow, wow, wow, we did it.... We won!!!!!!

We were literally thrilled just to be nominated for the UK 'TRAINEE PROVIDER OF THE YEAR' by the ACR Awards and honoured to be in the same category alongside Daikin UK and Area Academy.

We cannot thank everyone on the Meridian Air Conditioning Limited team enough for all of the hard work over the last 12 months since we opened the doors to our Meridian RACHP Training centre.

This course will enable candidates to acquire a detailed overview of F-Gas requirements and a clear understanding of the current UK and EU laws and regulations regarding the handling of refrigerants covered under the F-Gas Regulations and Ozone Depletion Regulations (ODS).

This 1- day course is designed for those members of staff who need a clear understanding of the F-Gas and ODS Regulations without a practical assessment. This will help them understand what their engineers’ are required to do day to day and will help them schedule work in around jobs requiring F-Gas compliance.

Introducing the official launch day of Meridian RACHP training centre. A new purpose-built training centre opening in Ferndown, Dorset, is set to provide training and short courses for the refrigeration, air conditioning and heat pump industry offering effective handling of flammable refrigerants.
The day has finally arrived following 18 months of hard work and dedication to bringing Dorset its first ever RACHP training centre. The school has been designed after carefully analysing the needs of professionals within the industry and it's the result of countless hours of research and development to ensure our students receive the best possible academic achievement as well as experience.
The site, which will be operated by Meridian Air Conditioning and Ventilation, marks a partnership between the company and lecturer and assessor Shaun Creech.
The President of the Institute of Refrigeration - Graeme Fox CEng MCIBSE F.Inst.R., Graeme is also the technical director for the BESA group, head of technical for REFCOM and a Director of ACRIB cut the purple ribbon and opened the centre today.
Shaun Creech, who has trained over a thousand students across his career and is a Fellow of the IOR, said the site will specialise in providing individuals with the skills to use lower flammability A2L and higher flammability A3 refrigerants for a range of RACHP functions. The training centre is designed to provide a range of short training courses accredited by City & Guilds and BESA for both more experienced installers and newcomers to the sector.
Meridian Air Conditioning directors Sam and Suzanne Lovell have partnered with Shaun Creech. Shaun commented that the site would aim to upskill individuals in working on cooling systems, as well as meeting a predicted growth in demand for heat pumps.
He said: “The setting up of a centre would give people the option to attend their training somewhere more local instead of travelling at least 60 miles or more to the nearest other provider - it seemed a no brainer. We are looking to grow our provision as we go forward and have already been approached by some companies about setting up specific courses for their employees on controls systems for ventilation systems.”
