Most people think faded roof tiles have “lost their protection.”

Not necessarily.

Back in the 1970s, many concrete roof tiles were made from grey/yellow concrete, then given a thin coloured surface coating at the factory.

That coating was mainly there to give the tile its finished colour. Not to add some magical extra layer of protection.

So when an old roof fades and starts showing grey/yellow underneath, it doesn’t automatically mean the tile has failed.

Today, many concrete tiles are made with colour impregnated throughout the tile instead, so the colour isn’t just sitting on the surface.

Sometimes an old roof hasn’t “lost its protection.”

It’s just lost its original colour coating.

Another transformation completed for a lovely client in Needham Market.

The client originally spotted us working locally and asked us to pop round and take a look at the property. She had recently moved in and the exterior had unfortunately been neglected for a number of years.

The main concern at first was the patios. They had become extremely green, slippery, and difficult to maintain, so we carried out a full patio clean alongside a biocide treatment to keep the algae at bay for longer. We’ve also scheduled a maintenance treatment for later in the year to keep everything under control moving forward.

Once we started walking around the property together, we discussed the roof, solar panels, windows, fascias, and cladding. There was a significant build-up of dirt, grime, and moss across multiple areas, with moss beginning to fall onto the shingle around the property.

In the end, the client opted for our full Gold Package to completely refresh the exterior and bring the property back to life.

The end result is a property that not only looks stunning again, but is now far easier to maintain moving forward.

A completed job in Great Blakenham for a stunning home.

This client opted for the Silver Package with an added patio clean and the results speak for themselves. From black back to red.

Again, this was carried out using our low pressure steam cleaning process.

With concrete tiles, the goal is not always to leave the roof looking “brand new” on the day. The priority is preserving the life of the tiles rather than blasting them with aggressive high pressure cleaning.

We let the treatment continue working after the clean, allowing the roof to brighten naturally over time while keeping the process as safe and controlled as possible.
