Last week we were asked by a client for advice on the energy efficiency of different construction options to allow them to meaningfully compare the costs against the likely energy use.

In under two hours, using the home energy modelling plugin quickSAP for Sketchup, we’d built the internal envelope model and run five different construction options and tabulated the different SAP, EPC, CO2 emissions and heating kWh clearly for them backed up by fully broken down detailed calculations including fabric heat losses, thermal bridge heat losses, ventilation losses, PV generation, hot water and heating use, electricity etc.
