Im often asked why use lime instead of cement?
The main reason is breathability. Lime mortar has a porous structure that allows moisture to move through the walls and evaporate naturally, rather than getting trapped inside.
A simple way to think of it β lime is like an Aero chocolate bar, full of tiny air pockets, whereas cement is more like a solid Galaxy bar. Cement is much denser and stronger, which makes it great for modern construction, but in older buildings it can trap moisture and lead to damp and decay over time.
Using the right materials for the right building is key.
