Jurassic Asbestos Services Ltd were appointed to undertake the licensed removal and disposal of asbestos insulating board (AIB) at Exeter Racecourse, one of Britain's oldest racecourses. With horse racing dating back to the 17th century.
Located on Haldon Hill, just outside Exeter the project involved the licensed removal of suspended ceiling tiles and ceiling grid, together with asbestos insulating board (AIB) debris. Following the safe removal our team encapsulated the accessible AIB boxing, firebreaks and ceiling surfaces to safely manage the remaining asbestos-containing materials. As part of the project, we also undertook the licensed removal and disposal of asbestos insulating board ceiling panels, with all works completed under fully controlled conditions.
Due to the nature of the materials involved, all works were completed within a purpose-built enclosure maintained under negative pressure. The enclosure incorporated a three-stage airlock, three-stage baglock, CCTV monitoring, negative pressure units and dedicated waste routes to ensure the highest standards of safety throughout the project.
All asbestos insulating board was removed using licensed techniques, including controlled wetting methods, shadow vacuuming and careful manual removal to minimise fibre release. Following removal, all accessible asbestos insulating board remaining within the ceiling void was thoroughly cleaned before being encapsulated using ET-150, providing long-term protection and allowing the refurbishment works to progress safely.
This project demonstrates Jurassic Asbestos Services' expertise in delivering complex licensed asbestos removal and encapsulation projects within commercial environments. By combining safe asbestos removal with effective encapsulation techniques, we were able to help our client safely manage asbestos risks while keeping their refurbishment programme on schedule.

Jurassic Asbestos Services were appointed to carry out the specialist removal of asbestos insulating board debris at the historic Powderham Castle in Devon — a landmark dating back to the late 14th century, set on the banks of the River Exe.

Our team delivered a fully controlled clean of the affected areas within the castle, including the safe removal of contaminated materials, detailed surface cleaning, and encapsulation of impacted zones to support long-term safety and asbestos management.

All works were undertaken under strictly licensed asbestos conditions, fully compliant with the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012 and HSG247 guidance. The project setup included a purpose-built negative pressure enclosure, airlock and baglock systems, and an asbestos decontamination unit

Following completion, an independent UKAS-accredited analyst conducted a successful four-stage clearance process. After certification, the enclosure was safely dismantled and the area formally handed back to the client.

A challenging project completed in a highly sensitive, historic environment — delivered safely, compliantly, and to the highest standard.

The Jurassic Asbestos team were delighted to be contacted by local company LV Carpentry to assist with the safe removal and disposal of asbestos discovered during their latest project in Exmouth. A big thank you to our long-standing friends and returning customer, Lewis, for trusting us once again. It’s always a pleasure to work together and support local companies we know and value.

The property, located in the centre of Exmouth, was found to contain AIB (Asbestos Insulating Board). Our team carried out this licensed removal under fully controlled conditions, using a modular Decontamination Unit (DCU), a three-stage airlock system, CCTV monitoring, and negative pressure enclosures, all in line with the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012 and HSG247 guidance.

We were also really pleased to assist Dragos with his exciting new venture and to play a part in the transformation of the building into a new veterinary practice. Vets on the Beach is a brand-new independent practice, built on a genuine love for animals and the local community. After years working in the area, he is bringing a more personal, community-focused approach to veterinary care in Exmouth. We wish him every success and look forward to seeing the finished result.
