We’ve been harnessing the sun for over 20 years, 10 of which we’ve been a Which? Trusted Trader. Here’s 5 things you need to know if you’re thinking of taking the leap and going solar.

1. You really can lower your energy bills. A well designed solar system can generate the same amount of energy as you use over the course of a year. With a solar PV system paired with a battery such as Tesla Powerwall, you can get very close to self-sufficiency for a portion of the year, dramatically reducing what you buy from the grid.
2. Earn money from surplus energy. You can sign up for the Smart Export Guarantee, where you'll be paid for energy you export from your solar system back to the grid; so the power you generate but don't use still earns you something.
3. Reduce your carbon footprint. A good quality solar PV system is a great investment for your home, as it reduces your carbon footprint.
4. Battery storage makes it even smarter. Battery storage lets you store excess solar energy for later use, and during winter you can use your battery to buy in cheap off-peak electricity from the grid.
5. Solar is more affordable than ever. And renewable technology is getting smarter so even smaller roofs work too.

Another 5-Star Installation.

Your reviews and feedback drive us forward, and we love a happy ending. Thank you, Paula!

“We had a great experience with Sungift, Phil helped us through the process to get all the boxes ticked before the install. That does take a while. The install took about 2 days and now we are reaping the benefits. They did a really neat job. We're thrilled.”

Your land could be your greatest energy asset 🏭⚡

Over the past week, we've been sharing the story of Numatic International's micro-solar park in Chard - the UK's first commercial ground-mounted installation using AIKO All-Back-Contact (ABC) panels.

This installation sees Numatic benefit from:

✅ Payback in under 5 years.
✅ 20% of annual site energy met.
✅ 2,672 panels over 5 acres
✅ 7% more energy per panel.

And it all started with a plot of land that most people would have dismissed as being too small.

If you're a manufacturer, logistics operator, or large commercial site with underused land next to your facility, this project shows what's possible.

We've been designing and delivering solar for sites across the UK since 2005. We know how to make limited space work harder than it looks like it should.

"𝙈𝙖𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜 500,000 𝙃𝙚𝙣𝙧𝙮𝙨 𝙖 𝙮𝙚𝙖𝙧 𝙛𝙧𝙤𝙢 𝙨𝙪𝙣𝙨𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙚" ☀️

That's how Stephen George, Regulatory Affairs and Sustainability Manager at Numatic International, describes what their new micro-solar park means in practice.

🌱 Numatic has an internal sustainability programme called 'Operation Cleansweep',which has the serious ambition to achieve Net Zero by 2035. Our new installation is a major step on that journey.

🌞 This installation is the UK's first commercial ground-mounted solar array using AIKO ABC (All-Back-Contact) panels and Sigenergy inverters. It reduces Numatic's environmental footprint while protecting their operations from rising energy costs.

It's also the third solar project we've delivered for Numatic, building on a 250 kWp rooftop system installed in 2013 and a 151 kWp system in 2019.

Each phase has been more ambitious than the last, which is testament to the long-term thinking at Numatic, and the solid partnership we’ve built together. Step-by-step we’re working towards achieving Net Zero.

👏 Congratulations to the whole team at Numatic International, it has been a pleasure working with you on this project.

Numatic International's new micro-solar park is the UK's first commercial ground-mount installation using AIKO’s high-efficiency ABC (All-Back-Contact) panels and Sigenergy inverters.

As well as being a great win in terms of sustainability, it's also a very sound financial decision.

As you can see, the numbers are impressive:

⚡ 1.73 MWp peak generation
🏭 Meets 20% of annual on-site energy demand
☀️ Up to 100% of daily energy needs on peak days
💰 A payback period of under 5 years (and potentially under 2.5 if energy prices stay high!)
🌍 CO₂ savings of 266.91 tonnes per year
🔋 A future capacity of up to 3MWh of battery storage in phase 2

The total investment was £1 million with a return that compares favourably against almost any alternative use of that capital.

As Steve Whitlock, Finance Director at Numatic International, put it: "Every business needs to consider how it secures its energy future."

Numatic International thought the same.

🏭 At their manufacturing site in Chard, Somerset, a 5-acre parcel of land had been earmarked for new manufacturing units. When we looked at it, we saw a high-density power generation opportunity hiding in plain sight.

We used AIKO's All-Back-Contact (ABC) panels, which produce more energy per square metre than conventional technology, to turn what looked like a constraint into a competitive advantage.

🔌 The site now generates up to 1.73 MWp, which feeds directly into Numatic's energy-intensive plastic moulding operations. We also installed Sigenergy's hybrid inverters to future-proof the site, giving us the option to add battery storage at a later date.

If you’re a UK manufacturer trying to cut energy costs and hit sustainability targets, this is the kind of project worth paying attention to.

See how we approached it, step by step 👇

500,000 Henrys will now be powered by sunshine every year!

We recently switched on the UK's first commercial ground-mounted solar array using AIKO All-Back-Contact (ABC) panels, installed for Numatic International - the Somerset manufacturer behind the iconic Henry vacuum.

This is more than just a regular solar installation - it's a £1m micro-solar park designed to deliver maximum power from a site that many installers would have written off as too small.

Using AIKO's ABC panels and Sigenergy's hybrid inverters, we've fitted 2,672 panels across 5 acres - producing over 7% more energy per panel than conventional ground-mounted arrays.

On its best days, the system generates 100% of the site's energy needs. Across the year, it meets 20% of Numatic’s on-site energy requirements, cutting CO₂ emissions by 266.91 tonnes annually.

That's enough power to manufacture 500,000 Henrys - all from pure sunshine.

We're proud to have designed, engineered, and installed this landmark project. It’s a great proof of concept to show what’s possible for UK manufacturers with the right site and the right approach.

Our recent installation at Numatic, manufacturer of the iconic Henry vacuum, is getting a lot of attention and was featured on the BBC yesterday 🎥 📻.

It's easy to see why - this 1.73 MWp micro solar park generates 20% of Numatic's annual energy requirements, helping them take a big step forward towards their goal of being NetZero by 2035.

We achieved this using AIKO ABC (All-Back-Contact) high-efficiency panels and Sigenergy's hybrid inverters, enabling us to get the absolute most out of the limited space available.
