You may have noticed us out in Woodbury this week as we dealt with an emergency dismantle near the church. This Monterey Pine had sadly split through the trunk at its base and was too unstable to climb so some serious machinery was called for to complete the removal safely! Tom Hurley came out on site with us to take some amazing drone footage - it's hard to appreciate the height of these trees from the ground so a drone's-eye view makes all the difference.

Thank you to everyone in the village who dealt with our road closure with patience!

Our team have been out this week doing what they do best, extremely technical tree surgery in extremely beautiful surroundings!

Our moorland client needed these windblown trees to be urgently removed as they were all within smashing distance of their property. Thankfully the wind did actually stop for the day so that the team could work as safely as possible! 🌲👍

We always bring our A-game, so if there's anything we can do to help you with your trees don't hesitate to get in touch.

☀️Miraculously the sun came out to shine on our recent beech dismantle☀️

Following an inspection this beech was found to be crippled by a combination of Ganoderma and Kretzschmaria; unfortunately this meant that it was seriously structurally compromised and needed to come out as an urgent matter. Our expert team spent a busy day dismantling the tree and making the area safe for the local residents, and despite the storms the weekend before we were lucky to have light winds and sunshine all day! Is that the first time this year??

Always a safe pair of hands with our friends at Cranes & Hiab Hire , great to have you on hand for the day 👍

Every summer, we like to do an aerial rescue practice day for our team and any of our subcontractors that would like to join in. Aerial rescue is an essential skill for tree surgeons; although everyone carries a personal first aid kit and most climbers are able to self-rescue in the event of an injury, there is always the possibility that a climber will be so incapacitated that another team member will need to get to them and rescue them, as quickly and safely as possible.

Having the time to refresh their aerial rescue skills gives the team that extra edge of capability and confidence, as well as building up that essential emergency muscle memory! It's also a great chance to get everyone in a tree together without the pressure of needing to complete that day's work...not to mention having the opportunity to hang like a dead weight from someone else's harness 😂

We are very lucky to have been given permission by East Devon District Council to use one of the large Oak trees in Phear Park, Exmouth, for our practice session - many thanks to Peter and the street scene team for their assistance 😊

Thanks to team leaders Sam and Stuart for the photos!

🦉 Knock knock, hoo's there? 🦉

Getting unusually close glimpses of our native wildlife is definitely a perk of the job! Whilst completing their habitat checks before beginning work, our team recently came across this sleepy tawny owl nestled in the very top of a declining fir tree (second pic marks the spot)! We of course left the owl and tree as they were, so hopefully it was able to continue its nap...
