Yesterday we sub-soiled the maize field and then power harrowed it. We had two tractors going at the same time to be as efficient as possible…

We sub-soil to create gaps in the soil to allow more nutrients to get into the soil.

We then power harrow to break up the clumps made by sub-soiling and the plough, in order to create a smooth bed to plant the Maize 🌽

Now the silage has been cut, last week we muck spread the field which is a fantastic way to naturally fertilise the ground as it keeps the soil rich in nutrients.

A successful day to get the job done with 3 muck spreaders on the go! The field has now been ploughed which loosens and aerates the soil.

No rest for the wicked! A full-on nightshift followed by pedicures for the cows.

It’s really important to keep the cows feet strong and healthy so they see Richard at Premier Cattle Services often to make sure there are no problems or sometimes just for a check up 🐮
