Happy Halloween from all of us at AMS Pest Control 🧡

Halloween is nearly here, and across Cheltenham, Gloucester and the Cotswolds, the decorations are up: cobwebs on the porch, a pumpkin on the step, a skeleton waving at the postman. But the scariest things in your home this October aren't made of plastic. They're scratching in the walls, lurking in....

Hearing scratching in the loft? 🐀
As the nights get colder, rats and mice start looking for somewhere warm to spend the winter, and Gloucester homes are top of their list. Older properties, gaps around pipes and airbricks, and food left within reach are all an open invitation.
We’re a family-run pest control company based in Evesham, and we’re out and about across Gloucester and the Cotswolds every week. If you’re noticing:
🔹 Scratching or scurrying in walls or lofts
🔹 Droppings near food or skirting boards
🔹 Gnawed packaging or wiring..give us a call before it gets worse. We’ll find where they’re getting in, deal with it effectively, and give you honest advice on keeping them out. Honest advice, fair prices and a friendly local team..

Why we do this job (and why we’re still a bit obsessed with roofs) 🏠👋
A quick hello from us. We’re a small, local team, and if you’ve never met us (you’ve probably never needed us!), here’s what we’re about.
We got into pest control because we like solving problems that people find stressful. Nobody enjoys discovering something living in their loft or kitchen. Often the call starts with a worried “this isn’t something I’ve had before, but...” and ends with a relieved “great thanks for your help”
That’s the best part of the job.
A few things you might not know about us:
☕ We’ll always explain what we’ve found, in plain English, and show you where it’s getting in.🔍 We’d rather fix the cause than just treat the infestation. Looking to help prevent future activity.🌿 We use professional methods that do the job effectively, particularly around pets, children and wildlife.🤝 If it doesn’t need a visit, we’ll tell you so.
It’s October, which means our phones are a bit busier than usual as the weather turns. If you’re hearing odd noises, spotting droppings or just want a second opinion, we’re happy to chat. No pressure, no hard sell.

🐝🐭 Evesham homeowners — this is the trickiest fortnight of the year for pests
Two things are happening at once right now, and most people don't realise it until they've got a problem:
1. Wasps are at their most aggressive. Nests are cycling out for the season, and the workers that are left have nothing to do but search for sugar — which means bins, BBQ leftovers, and fruit trees in Evesham gardens are getting a lot of unwanted attention. If you've spotted a nest, please don't disturb it yourself — a dying colony can be more volatile than an early one. Multiple stings can be life threatening.
2. Rats and mice are heading indoors for winter. As it gets colder, rodents start looking for warm, dry places to shelter — sheds, garages, lofts, and gaps around Evesham's older brick and timber-framed properties are all prime targets. The scratching in the loft or the chewed skirting board you notice in October usually started with an entry point that was exploited in September.
What to do now:
* Seal obvious gaps around pipework, air bricks, and roof eaves unless you have current activity as you don’t want to trap anything in
* Keep bins lidded and away from the house
* Don't try to remove a wasp nest yourself as this month they could contain several thousand wasps
* If you hear noises in the loft or find droppings, act early — a small problem now is an infestation by December
We cover wasp nest removal and rat & mice control across Evesham and the surrounding villages — same-day appointments where possible. Drop us a message or give us a call if you've spotted signs of either.

September is here — and so are the pests that come with it!
As the evenings cool down and summer fades into autumn, we're seeing the usual seasonal shift here in Evesham and across Worcestershire & the Cotswolds. A few things to keep an eye on this month:
🐝 Wasps – Nests are still active and wasps can actually get a bit grumpier this time of year as their colony winds down. If you've spotted one in the shed, loft or eaves, it's best to get it treated properly rather than disturbing it yourself.
🐭 Mice & rats – As temperatures drop, rodents start looking for a warm, dry place to see out the winter... and your home looks pretty tempting to them! Early signs include droppings, scratching noises at night, or gnaw marks. Catching it early makes a big difference.
🪰 Cluster flies – Keep an eye on loft spaces, as these guys like to gather in large numbers to hibernate for winter.
Our top tip for September: now's the perfect time to check for gaps around pipes, vents, and brickwork before rodents find them first. A little prevention now saves a lot of hassle later! We offer a proofing and preventative service.
If you're noticing any of the above (or just want a friendly chat about protecting your home or business from pests this autumn), give us a call. We cover Evesham and right across Worcestershire and the Cotswolds, and we're always happy to help. 🏡

🍂 The Great September Move-In (and how to help prevent it)
As the mornings turn crisp across Warwickshire, Worcestershire and the Cotswolds, there's more than just leaves on the move. Rats and mice are starting their annual house-hunt — and your home, shed, or barn looks awfully appealing once the fields get colder.
It's not personal. It's just September. Every year, as harvests wrap up and gardens go quiet, our local rodents start eyeing up somewhere warmer to sit out the winter. Cosy lofts, sheltered garages, and the gap under your decking are basically five-star listings to them.
A few early signs it's time to take a closer look:
Small droppings near skirting boards or in cupboards
Gnaw marks on packaging, wood, or wiring
Rustling in the loft that definitely isn't the cat
The good news? A little vigilance now beats a full infestation in November. Proofing entry points, tidying up outdoor food sources, and catching the first signs early makes all the difference.
If you've spotted the telltale signs — or just want peace of mind before autumn properly sets in — we're out and about across Warwickshire, Worcestershire and the Cotswolds and always happy to help. Drop us a message anytime.

Spotted a Wasp Nest in Evesham?

If you've noticed wasps buzzing round the same spot in your garden or garage lately, chances are there's a nest close by — and this time of year, they can grow fast. We've had a fair few calls about it already this week!
A word of warning: we know it's tempting to grab a can of spray and deal with it yourself, but wasp nests can hold hundreds if not thousands of wasps, and disturbing one without the right protection is asking for trouble (quite literally). We've seen it go wrong more than once.
That's where we come in. We offer fast and effective wasp nest removal across Evesham and the surrounding Worcestershire villages — usually same-day if you catch us early enough.

If you're not sure whether what you've spotted is actually a wasp nest (or just a few strays passing through), send us a photo — we're always happy to take a look and give honest advice, even if it turns out you don't need us.

Pest Control Advice for Worcestershire and Warwickshire – August 2026
As we move through late summer, several pest issues are becoming more common across the Vale of Evesham, The Cotswolds and further afield. Here's what to look out for:
Wasps 🐝
Wasp nests begin to reach maximum size in August, often housing several thousand wasps. Nests are commonly found in loft spaces, cavity walls, sheds, and garden trees. We'd always recommend professional removal rather than DIY treatment, as disturbed nests can pose a serious risk. Contact us for safe wasp nest removal in Evesham.
Rodents (Rats & Mice) 🐀
Cooler evenings mean rats and mice begin seeking shelter indoors. Warning signs include droppings, gnaw marks, scratching noises in walls or lofts, and damaged food packaging. Early intervention is key – a small rodent problem can become a significant infestation within weeks. Our rat and mouse control services across Warwickshire and Worcestershire cover both residential and commercial properties.
Ants 🐜
Dry conditions typically drive ants indoors in search of food and water. While generally not an issue in the garden large colonies in kitchens or food storage areas may require professional treatment.
Flies 🪰
Warm weather increases fly activity, particularly around bins, drains, and food preparation areas. Persistent fly problems can sometimes indicate an underlying issue, such as a nearby breeding site.
Wasp and Hornet Activity in Gardens🐝
With harvest season underway, fallen fruit can attract wasps and other insects to gardens and orchards. Regular clearing of fallen fruit is recommended to reduce activity.
If you're experiencing any of the issues above, our fully qualified technicians provide prompt, discreet, and effective treatment across Evesham and the surrounding villages.

If you're anywhere across Evesham, the Cotswolds, Worcestershire or Gloucestershire right now, you've probably noticed things are a lot busier out there than usual. High temperatures speed everything up in the insect world, and this summer's warm spell has been no exception.

Here's what we're seeing a lot of at the moment:

🐝 Wasps – nests are thriving in the heat and wasps get noticeably more aggressive as the weather stays warm, especially from now through late summer
🐜 Ants – long dry, hot spells push them indoors in search of water and food, so don't be surprised by trails appearing in kitchens and bathrooms
🪳 Cockroaches and other creepy crawlies – warm, humid conditions are exactly what they thrive in
🐭 Rodents – yes, even in a heatwave, mice and rats will seek out shaded, cool spots close to food, which often means sheds, garages and outbuildings
🦟 Flies – breeding faster than usual and making the most of bins, compost heaps and anything left out after a garden get-together

We've been dealing with pest control across Evesham and the wider Cotswolds, Worcestershire and Gloucestershire area for years, through all sorts of weather, and one thing's always true: it's far easier (and cheaper!) to sort a problem out early than wait until it's out of control.

If you've spotted a wasp nest in the garden, an ant trail you can't get rid of, or just have a feeling something's moved in where it shouldn't have, get in touch. We're local, we're friendly, and we'll always give you honest advice — even if that's just some quick tips rather than a full callout.

Out here in the Vale of Evesham, summer means more than just BBQs — it's also prime time for pests to move in on farms, smallholdings, and market gardens. 🌾

Warm weather draws rats and mice into barns and outbuildings looking for feed and shelter, wasps take up residence in old machinery sheds and roof spaces, and flies can quickly become a real headache around livestock and produce.

We work with farmers, growers, and rural property owners across Evesham and the wider Vale, helping keep pest problems under control before they affect stock, stored produce, or day-to-day working life. We understand the pressures of agricultural sites — access, timing around harvest, and keeping treatments practical and safe.

If you're dealing with pest activity on your land or buildings this summer, we're just a call away.
