Two fuseboards on today’s to-do list! Luckily, they are both in the same property! 😅

Alongside the installations, I am carrying out full testing and certification to make sure everything is safe and up to standard ready for an application for a short-term letting licence ✅

There has certainly been plenty of variety in the work lately and a fair few miles covered along the way!

I managed to squeeze in a few jobs back in Cambridgeshire, including an EV charger installation in Ely and another two in Stretham 🔌🚗

There was also a slightly more unusual job involving some scaffolding and a beautiful chandelier ✨ The chandelier had been hanging too high for years, meaning the owners hadn’t been able to fully appreciate it. With the help of some scaffolding and Rob from I was finally able to lower it to a height where it could be properly admired and the owners were delighted! A lovely job to be part of, and something a bit different from the usual.

Then it was up to the east coast of Scotland to complete the second fix on a beautiful property I’ve been working on. Always satisfying to see a project coming together and those finishing touches going in.

And now I’m back on the Isle of Tiree! 🌊

Yesterday was my first full day back on the tools, with a consumer unit upgrade, PAT testing and certification to keep me occupied.

A real mix of jobs, locations and challenges and plenty more to come no doubt.

I will be based on Tiree until early December, with lots of work already booked into the diary. That said, I’m always happy to chat about potential future projects, so if you have got any electrical work in mind, please feel free to get in touch.

⚡ NICEIC Inspection Passed! ⚡

A good day today! I completed my annual NICEIC inspection this afternoon and I am delighted to say it was successful, so I am all passed and signed off for another year ✅

With that done, plans are also coming together for my next trip to Tiree. I booked my ferry last night and, all being well (and the ferries behaving themselves! 🤞⛴️), I’ll be back on the island from 11th October.

Before then, it’s a busy few weeks finishing off jobs in Ely and the surrounding areas.

Once I’m back on Tiree, I’ll be there throughout October and for most of November, carrying out electrical work across the island, before returning again in early 2027.

A big thank you to all my customers, both in Ely and Tiree, for keeping me so busy - it’s very much appreciated! ⚡

Today I am back at this lovely kitchen and dining room extension in Littleport, Cambridgeshire, carrying out the second fixing.

I first fixed this one earlier in the year, before heading off to Tiree, so it is really great to be back and see how much it’s all coming together. This space is such a great addition to this property!

The sun is shining, the coffee is flowing ☀️☕️ and the tools are out - happy days! 😎⚡️

A few recent reviews from some customers ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

It’s always great to receive feedback and I really appreciate everyone who takes the time to leave a review after I’ve completed their work!

Today I managed to get to three local jobs here in Tiree (9 more to go this week!) 👀

⚡️ First up this morning, I finished off some consumer unit upgrades for a local holiday let, including repositioning the consumer units from the loft.

⚡️ Next, I returned to a customer who has been having issues with her air source heat pump. Unfortunately, I am not quite finished with this one yet, but we’re definitely further forward than we were yesterday, so progress is being made!!

⚡️ Finally, I attended a customer who was having issues with her electric boiler and hot water system. I stripped the system back, reconnected everything correctly and got it all working again!!

A busy day, but a productive one! 😅

I’ve just sat down to confirm the diary for next week… and somehow I’ve ended up with 12 jobs booked in for next week!

So, before next week gets underway, I thought I’d give a quick update on what Whaley Electrical has been up to lately!

Over the past week, I’ve completed the electrical installation for a full refurbishment, carried out the second fixing on a full rewire, completed two consumer unit upgrades where the existing units had no RCD protection, alongside plenty of other jobs and several emergency call-outs.

‼️The bad news is that my time in Tiree is coming to an end at the end of this month. I’m working flat out to get as much completed as possible before I leave!

🚨 The good news is that I’ve managed to find a small studio on Tiree, which means I’ll be returning to Tiree in October to complete everything left outstanding.

That includes:
⚡️ First fixing on two new builds
⚡️ First fixing an extension
⚡️ Several consumer unit upgrades
⚡️ PAT testing
⚡️ Second fixing a full refurb.
⚡️ And plenty more!

It’s going to be a hectic few weeks, but I am doing everything I can to get through as much as possible before I leave, then I’ll be back in October to finish the remaining work.

It’s been a busy week here on Tiree. It’s only Thursday morning and I’ve done two out of hours emergency call outs in the evenings already this week.

1 lady with no sockets working and another job last night for a family, in a holiday let with no hot water.

Bring on today’s fun 🫣😂

It is with a very heavy heart that I write this but we have decided that our Tiree family adventure has come to end.

We recently offered on a property where we could put down roots as a family on the island but unfortunately, we didn’t get the news we wanted. With the struggles of finding a long term rental accommodation and the need for stability for my girls, we as a family, have decided to leave the island.

I would like to thank all the wonderful people we have met along this adventure. We have had the most wonderful time and created many memories that I will never forget.

I have some ongoing projects that I will finish but then have time off with the family to enjoy Tiree before we leave. If I have priced work and not started it yet, I will contact you in due course. I can only apologise for any inconvenience but I want to enjoy this wonderful island with the little time we have left as a family.

Once again, thank you to you all and I wish you and this wonderful Island all the best.

Back to work at Whaley Electrical after a fabulous few days enjoying the Tiree Music Festival!

It was great to take a short break, catch up with friends, enjoy the island and experience Tiree Music Festival for the first time.

At the end of last week, I completed the second fix on a fantastic new art studio. It’s always satisfying seeing a project come together and this one is now fully equipped with:

⚡ Lighting throughout
⚡ Plenty of sockets for a practical workspace
⚡ Data connection back to the main house
⚡ Electric heaters
⚡ Hot water heater
⚡ External lighting
⚡ Wireless kinetic switches allowing the outside lights to be controlled from both the house and the studio - a really neat solution with no additional wiring required.

Alongside that, it’s been another busy spell with a mixture of rewires, fault finding, quotations and smaller installation jobs keeping me on the go. It is shaping up to be another busy few months, so a big thank you to all my customers for your continued support and patience 😊
