Our latest KRedit spotlight features Lewis, a 17-year-old student from Ellon Academy, who recently completed work experience in our steel and sheet metal workshops. From helping with the new railings at KRHQ to learning how to cut and fold gutters, Lewis threw himself into every task with enthusiasm and a willingness to learn.

It’s brilliant to see young people building confidence, developing practical skills, and discovering career paths they genuinely enjoy. We’re proud to have been part of Lewis’s journey and look forward to seeing where his future in welding and fabrication takes him.

Pimp My Ride 🚛🤩

Not every challenge can be solved with an off-the-shelf product.

These bespoke stainless steel mirror protection guards were designed and manufactured by our team to help protect vehicle mirrors from damage caused by accidental knocks and scrapes during daily operations.

Starting with an on-house requirement, we designed, fabricated, and finished a solution tailored specifically to the vehicle, providing a robust protective guard that helps reduce repair costs and vehicle downtime.

From one-off prototypes to larger production runs, our in-house design and fabrication capabilities allow us to create bespoke sheet metal solutions for vehicles, plant, equipment, and specialist applications.

Flashback Friday ⚡

We spent a fantastic Friday earlier this month, welcoming P6 & P7 pupils from Newburgh Mathers School to KRHQ as part of Careers Week.

The pupils toured our workshops and spent time with our plant mechanics learning about site machinery, with a first hand demo of a MEWP in action, proving a real highlight of the visit 🦺

They also met with members of our leadership team to hear about different career journeys and discover how school subjects can lead into the wide range of opportunities available within construction and manufacturing. From engineering and fabrication to cladding technicians, marketing, health & safety, estimating, project management and mechanics, it’s safe to say there are far more career paths in the industry than many people realise.

The group were a credit to their school throughout the visit, asking brilliant questions and showing great enthusiasm from start to finish. To round off the day, everyone enjoyed a well-earned ice cream from Buchan's Ices before heading back to school. 🍦🏗️

Hopefully, we’ve inspired a few future careers along the way!

🏊‍♂️ We’re proud to have played a part in the refurbishment of Bucksburn Swimming Pool alongside Morrison Construction Scotland 👏

It’s fantastic to see this important community facility reopening after a major transformation, creating a modern, inclusive, and energy-efficient space for local people to enjoy for years to come 💙

Our team delivered structural steelwork and feature cladding elements as part of the refurbishment works, helping create a welcoming new entrance for visitors returning to the pool next month 🔩🏗️

Projects like this are especially rewarding because they make a real difference locally, supporting healthier and more active local communities.

Well done to everyone involved in bringing the project to life, including Sport Aberdeen and Aberdeen City Council 👏

We look forward to seeing the facility back at the heart of the community 🏊

We recently had a great day at the Red Wing Charity Golf Day at Banchory Golf Club, proudly supporting SC&T Youth and the fantastic work they do creating opportunities for young people across the North East of Scotland.

A huge thank you to the Red Wing team for organising such a brilliant event and for bringing everyone together in support of a really worthwhile cause. Despite the Scottish weather doing its best to challenge us, it was a fantastic day with great company, plenty laughs and some impressive golf along the way.

Delighted our team could take part and support the fundraising efforts through the raffles, auctions and competitions throughout the day.

Well done to everyone involved 👏

These bespoke square-to-round fan pieces were manufactured in-house by the KR Sheet Metal team from 2mm stainless steel, complete with:
• 150mm dia to 200x200mm transitions
• Fully welded collars 🔩
• Buffed & pickled finish ✨
• 30mm fl**ge faces with welded corner notches

A clean, accurate finish on a small batch job that still demanded absolute attention to detail 👌

Over the last 18 months, KR Group has been proud to support Men In Mind through an ongoing partnership focused on raising awareness around men’s mental health.

Our team took part in a wide range of initiatives to fundraise for Men in Mind. We also provided key marketing and communications support, helping them to expand their reach by highlighting the incredible work they do within the community.

Another job completed by our cladding team in Ballater 👏

This project involved stripping back the old roof, installing new timber framing, and finishing the building with a new metal sheeted roof system.

The new roof not only gives the building a much cleaner finish, but it also provides a far more durable, weather resistant and low maintenance solution for the client going forward. A big improvement in both appearance and long-term performance.

Projects like this are all about getting buildings back up to standard, protected from the elements and built to last, especially in locations where the weather can be unforgiving.

Great effort from the lads on site from start to finish 💪

Our KRedit student, Lucy has been getting involved with our charity efforts by helping to source raffle prizes for Ellon Academy!

The school are putting on a production of ‘The Addams Family’ and were looking for some prizes to include in their raffle during show nights. The money raised will go towards supporting Ellon Academy Drama Club to help ensure students will have the opportunity to put on more productions in future.

Lucy searched for some items that she thought would be good raffle prizes, helped to order them, and delivered them in person to the school once they had arrived.
