A fantastic piece of D Morgan history shared by J. Clarke Transport Ltd.

This photograph shows one of our Hino ZM 6-wheel tippers operating in Ellesmere Port during the 1980s. The vehicle pictured was originally purchased new in 1982/83 and formed part of an extensive fleet that helped deliver projects across the North West during a period of significant growth for the business.

Since our beginnings in 1950, D Morgan has grown from a small family business into one of the region's leading civil engineering, earthworks, plant hire and transport contractors. Whilst the trucks may have changed considerably over the years, our commitment to reliability, hard work and customer service remains exactly the same.

With just over over 75 years in business, we operate an extensive modern transport fleet, supporting projects throughout the UK with the movement of aggregates, soils, recycled materials and construction products. Whether it's a single load or a major earthworks operation, our team has the experience, resources and capacity to deliver.

It's always great to look back at where we've come from while continuing to invest in the future.

Another excellent CECA North West & Chartered Institution of Civil Engineering Surveyors (CICES) Annual Golf Day at Leigh Golf Club.

Congratulations to Geoterra for taking top spot this year. While we couldn't quite replicate last year's winning performance, our team was pleased to finish in third place.

Events like these are a great opportunity to catch up with colleagues, clients and industry friends in a relaxed setting.

The Bolt of Lightning - Omega Warrington

The Bolt of Lightning has been shortlisted at the BCSA - British Constructional Steelwork Association annual Structural Steel Design Awards for 2026.

Structural Engineer: WSP in the UK & Ireland
Main Contractor: D Morgan plc
Client: Miller Developments

The Bolt of Lightning at Omega Warrington, it is a landmark public art installation commemorating the heritage of RAF Burtonwood, one of the largest US Army Air Force bases in Europe during WWII.

The steel sculpture depicts a Lockheed P-38 Lightning fighter aircraft rising from a dive, supported by sweeping contrails. Standing at a height 22.5m (74ft) and weighing more than 12 tonnes, it stands taller than the Angel of the North.
