The Bolt of Lightning - Omega Warrington

The Bolt of Lightning has been shortlisted at the BCSA - British Constructional Steelwork Association annual Structural Steel Design Awards for 2026.

The Bolt of Lightning at Omega Warrington, it is a landmark public art installation commemorating the heritage of RAF Burtonwood, one of the largest US Army Air Force bases in Europe during WWII.

The steel sculpture depicts a Lockheed P-38 Lightning fighter aircraft rising from a dive, supported by sweeping contrails. Standing at a height 22.5m (74ft) and weighing more than 12 tonnes, it stands taller than the Angel of the North.

🏆 Think Outside the Box Award 🏆

Congratulations to Andrew Jones, Site Foreman on our A66 Project in Penrith, who is the latest winner of our Think Outside the Box Award.

The award recognises employees who go above and beyond by thinking differently, challenging the norm, and finding safer, smarter ways of working.

Andrew received the award after identifying a safer and more effective way of carrying out a planned task, helping to reduce risk before work began. His proactive approach is exactly the type of behaviour we want to recognise and encourage across D Morgan.

Our Operations SHE Advisor, Patrick Sarjeant, presented Andrew with his certificate, a premium D Morgan workwear bundle and an Amazon gift voucher in recognition of his achievement.

🎓 Congratulations to Kieran Kershaw!

A huge congratulations to Kieran Kershaw on successfully completing his Civil Engineering Degree Apprenticeship with Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU).

Since joining D Morgan plc in February 2021 as a Trainee Site Engineer, Kieran has followed our internal career development pathway, gaining valuable experience in estimating and across a wide range of civil engineering and earthworks projects while making a significant contribution to our teams.

Balancing the demands of a degree apprenticeship alongside a full-time role is no small achievement. Kieran's dedication, commitment and work ethic throughout his studies have been exceptional, and this accomplishment is thoroughly deserved.
