The Bolt of Lightning has been shortlisted at the BCSA - British Constructional Steelwork Association annual Structural Steel Design Awards for 2026.

The Bolt of Lightning at Omega Warrington, it is a landmark public art installation commemorating the heritage of RAF Burtonwood, one of the largest US Army Air Force bases in Europe during WWII.
The steel sculpture depicts a Lockheed P-38 Lightning fighter aircraft rising from a dive, supported by sweeping contrails. Standing at a height 22.5m (74ft) and weighing more than 12 tonnes, it stands taller than the Angel of the North.
