Absolute Forestry LLP Offer a variety of forestry services all over Scotland. It aims to undertake a vast variety of forestry operations throughout Scotland and the UK.

Absolute Forestry LLP is a forestry contracting organisation, with its staff having a combined total of over 30 years experience. We specialise in a variety of woodland surveys. Our team collect data for production and attribute, ecological, herbivore impact assessments, tree health, weevil surveys and stock density assessments, all data is fed back to forest planners so they can take appropriate

management measures. Using top of the range equipment by trusted companies such as Haglöf and Masser we are able to accurately measure timber production in any woodland establishment. At Absolute Forestry we have a team of highly experienced tree planters all working together. With a great team behind us we aim to complete to customer satisfaction, small to very large planting project, using (bare root, cells, stakes and tubes, vole protection, spirals or wrap guards). Whether its 1000 or 1 million trees, no jobs too big or too small. Full after care maintenance is also available on all planted sites. Using knapsack sprayers or stem injecting, we have fully qualified chemical operators, for insecticide (mainly weevil),invasive species or w**d control. Our operators are certified to work on or near water courses/rivers, and are specialised in the removal of invasive species such as (Giant Hogw**d, Rhododendron, American Skunk Cabbage, Japanese Knotw**d, Himalayan Balsam). Invasive non-native plants invade habitats, spread quickly and outcompete native vegetation. Some can be really destructive, causing riverbanks, built structures and surfaces to destabilise. Some can adversely affect human and animal health. W**d control and invasive species removal can also be done manually/motor by our team. Our highly experienced team also offer chainsaw operation. Windblown trees, forest track clearances, rhododendron clearing, tree surgery, felling, etc. All operators come qualified and insured.

Multiple native woodland projects completed by our team. A public walk at lochton of leys near Banchory, the other St Fergus gas terminal near Peterhead, and finally 1 on Hatton estate near Turriff, a total of 90000 mix broadleaf trees and Scot’s pine.

Tree health surveys take us to some amazing places, this forest though is so close to home. Culbin Forest. 10 years ago doing this exact thing we noticed these woods were in very poor condition. The canopy was looking rather brown/red, blocks of pine trees infected and dying. Thinning and felling began to control spread of a fungal infection called DNB (Dothistroma needle blight), its a fungal disease affecting mainly pine species. The fungus affects the needles of the infected tree, which eventually shed. This can continue year on year and gradually weaken the tree, significantly reducing timber yields. It can also eventually lead to mortality, which was clearly happening in this forest. Roll on 10 years and she’s in much better condition

It’s been near a year since last update.

Apologies.

Some massive hiccups through some fault of our own and some clients not paying really hit us hard, which has been rectified now.. Losing valuable staff in process made life slightly rough and multiple vehicle issue just added to the carnage..

In this industry you either adapt or sink, and we adapted and have not only learned valuable lessons, but we’ve grown as a team and a company.

So here’s a snippet of what I did manage to do and capture while my mind was sane.

Tree health surveys loch rannoch, tentsmuir, etc.
Dead elm removal.
Sitka and ash removal.
1/2million trees planted.
Windblow clearance.
Weevil surveys.
Fencing.
Rubbish collecting(free of charge, bloody balloons).
Strimming/brushcutting.
Eucalyptus trial.
Inns removal.

Moving forward, more tree health surveys along east and west coast.
Dead and dangerous surveys.
Remedial tree works.
Windblow clearing.
Inns surveys and removal.
Planting and lots of it.

Oh and happy 5th birthday to us as a company. Upwards we go.
