A styled bathroom photograph is lovely. Real bathrooms contain shampoo bottles, toothbrushes, towels, toilet rolls, bath toys, and usually at least one thing somebody has left on the floor.

That’s real life.

So when you’re looking at bathroom inspiration, try imagining the room after you’ve moved into it. Is there enough storage? Are the surfaces easy to keep clear? Where will wet towels go? Is there enough room around the shower or bath?

The bathroom that still works when the whole family has used it on a Monday morning is arguably a much better design than the one that only looks perfect in a photograph.

Let’s design yours for real life.

We recently completed this project in Nottinghamshire with the existing bath replaced with a walk-in shower, with walls fitted with our popular Carrara Marble 10mm Wet Wall Panels with a gold fleck with a Carerra Marble klick flooring.
We also changed the WC to a rimless comfort height option and a wall hung two drawer vanity basin unit.

Don’t Design Your Bathroom for the Next Owner

We hear a lot about making “safe” choices because they’ll appeal to somebody else if the house is ever sold.

But you’re the person using the bathroom now.

If you love colour, there are ways to use it. If you prefer traditional fittings, choose them. If you never take baths, question whether you need one. If you want more storage and less empty space, design around that.

One of the strongest directions running through 2026 bathroom design has actually been personality. Designers are using colour, texture and pattern more confidently rather than treating every bathroom as though it has to appeal to everybody. Homes and Gardens

Trends can give you ideas. Your lifestyle should make the final decision.

A bath replacement project completed in West Yorkshire.

We supplied and fitted an offset quadrant shower enclosure to maximise the showering area and moved the wash hand basin from under the window to the left wall, opening up more floor space and replaced the existing basin with a two drawer vanity basin unit.

The walls were fitted with Graphite Slate tile effect wet wall panels with light Grey Stone klick flooring also fitted.

A recent family bathroom completed in Greater Manchester.
The scope of this project was to replace the outdated fittings with a modern contemporary style.
This included a wall mounted Modular Vanity basin unit, useful wall niches with lighting, a Rainfall shower, concealed cistern and heated towel rail.
Walls were finished with a feature wall with oak slatted panels along the bath wall and behind the wash basin and contrasting 10mm Beige slate panels on other walls.

Our client opted for brass fittings to complement the tones of the wall cladding.

There’s one part of having a new bathroom fitted that isn’t particularly exciting to think about.

What happens to the old one?

The bath, toilet, basin, packaging, offcuts and all the rubbish that comes with replacing a bathroom still have to go somewhere.

Complete Bathrooms UK removes your old bathroom and the associated installation waste as part of the service, then leaves the new bathroom clean and tidy. Complete Bathrooms UK

It might not be the glamorous part of a renovation, but when your house is already being disrupted, knowing you’re not going to be left with a pile of rubbish to deal with afterwards makes a difference.

Tiles or Panels? There Isn't One Right Answer.

This is one of those bathroom decisions where personal preference really matters.
Tiles can give you enormous freedom with pattern, size, texture and layout. Panels can create a very different look, particularly when you want larger uninterrupted areas and fewer visible joints.

And you don’t necessarily have to use the same finish everywhere.
We’ve seen how effective it can be to choose the surface according to the room, the style you’re trying to create and the amount of visual detail you want rather than simply choosing whatever you’ve always had before.

It’s exactly the kind of decision we can talk through when planning your new bathroom.

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐖𝐞 𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐤 𝐈𝐬 𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐟𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐀𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐦𝐧
We’ve talked about greens, blues and warmer neutrals, but there’s another 2026 colour direction that feels particularly right as we head further into autumn.

Clay.

Think muted terracotta, warm sandstone, soft ochre and earthy brown rather than bright orange. These grounded shades are appearing in current bathroom colour trends as the move away from cooler white and grey schemes continues. Homes and Gardens

They’re warm without being overpowering and work beautifully alongside cream, stone, timber and softer metallic finishes.

You could use them across the room or simply introduce the colour through one feature surface and keep everything else understated.

Would you bring an earthy colour into your bathroom?

When space is limited, our instinct is usually to look at what we can squeeze onto the floor. Sometimes the smarter answer is to stop thinking horizontally.
Wall-hung furniture, mirrored storage, tall units, recessed niches and carefully positioned accessories can all make use of vertical space while keeping more of the floor visible.

Complete Bathrooms UK’s contemporary ranges can be designed around bathrooms of different sizes and shapes, with options including off-the-floor sanitaryware and storage furniture. Complete Bathrooms UK
