*NEW CASE STUDY*
How do you extend an older home without losing the character that makes it special?
It’s a question many homeowners face — particularly when beautiful original stonework, awkward existing lines or conservation requirements are part of the picture.
For this project, the answer wasn’t to hide those features, but to design around them.
The new light-filled extension has been carefully crafted to follow the natural contours of the original stone walls, with hardwood and plasterwork individually scribed to create a seamless connection between old and new.
The result is a space that feels brighter, more versatile and better suited to everyday life — without sacrificing the character of the original property.
If you’re considering extending an older or characterful home, this case study demonstrates the value of bespoke design.
Rather than simply adding a standard extension, we designed this space around the existing character of the original building, creating an addition that will enhance this unique home for decades to come.
