🏛️ A little bit of history in our working day!

We’re fortunate enough to work on some truly beautiful properties, and it’s always a privilege when that includes buildings steeped in history and character.

At The Logan Group, we have extensive experience working across a wide range of properties, from historic stone-built buildings and traditional sash and case windows to modern new-build homes.

Working on older properties brings its own unique challenges, and we understand the importance of using the right materials, methods and attention to detail to maintain their original character while keeping them in great condition.

There’s something particularly rewarding about helping to look after buildings that have stood for generations. We’re proud to play our small part in maintaining and preserving these wonderful properties for future generations.

We’re really excited to show you this one… 👌

This week we installed this fully bespoke media wall, designed to give a completely finished look without the need for plasterers, painters or multiple trades and visits.

For this project, we designed and installed made-to-measure Egger cabinetry and TV back panel, incorporating an inset electric fire and concealed, high-quality LED backlighting. The lighting is smart controlled, allowing the client to adjust it directly from their phone or tablet to suit the room and mood.

Even the slatted feature wall was manufactured specifically by us for this project. We opted for wider and thicker slats than standard off-the-shelf panels, paired with light grey acoustic felt rather than the usual black, giving the wall a softer, more substantial finish.

Everything was made to measure for the space, with cabling and connections concealed and the finished surfaces installed as part of the build — no plastering or decorating required.

Fewer trades, fewer visits and less disruption, while still achieving a completely bespoke finish.

A family bathroom transformation in Livingston 🛁

We supplied and fitted the new bathroom, with contrasting grey porcelain tiles and matt black fittings giving it a clean, modern finish.

We also refreshed the downstairs WC with a new vanity unit and basin, an upgraded close coupled toilet, and boxing to conceal the existing surface mounted pipework.

Both rooms were completed on time and within budget, with all waste from the project disposed of responsibly.

Bathroom Transformation | Balerno 🛁✨

From where we started ➡️ to the finished result.

Another full bathroom renovation completed in Balerno and we’re really pleased with how this one has come together.

Finished with Carrara marble-effect wet wall panels and anthracite trims, a white UPVC panelled ceiling with LED downlights, and gunmetal fittings throughout, including the taps, towel rail, shower and over-bath screen.

A complete transformation creating a clean, modern and low-maintenance bathroom.

It’s what happens before the bathroom or kitchen fit that makes the difference. 👌

Yesterday we carried out a pre-start appointment to upgrade the stopcock and test the pipework before we start this installation next week - making sure the water supply pressure and flow rates are where they need to be before committing to the new shower setup. 🚿🔧

As always, the finished bathroom is only part of the story. A lot of the work happens long before the suite goes in:

Part 5 – Dirleton Extension - The Finished Interior 🏡✨

For the final part of our Dirleton extension series, we’re heading inside to show how this project all came together.

Alongside the new extension, the existing property was extensively reconfigured to create a much better flow throughout the home and make the most of the additional space.

The new kitchen now forms the heart of the property, creating a bright, contemporary space that connects beautifully with the extended living area and the garden beyond through the large aluminium sliding doors.

The project also included a new bathroom and en-suite, with carefully considered layouts, modern sanitaryware, tiling and finishing details throughout.

One of our favourite features is the natural light introduced into the internal spaces. Bespoke plastered light shafts beneath the Velux roof windows allow daylight to flood into the bathroom, en-suite and utility room, completely changing the feel of these areas.

Behind the finished photographs was a huge amount of work - from structural alterations and joinery through to plumbing, electrics, plastering and the coordination and finishing work involved in bringing a project of this scale together.

We’ve included a few progress photos alongside the finished spaces to give an idea of the work behind the transformation.

The end result is a bright, modern and beautifully finished second home that we’re really proud to have delivered here in East Lothian.
