At Dunkeld House Hotel, GLM helped shape a project that balanced sensitive change with a clear commercial purpose. Working within the listed building, the team identified an opportunity to create three new suites as part of a wider masterplan focused on improving the guest experience.

Islay House is a great example of how historic buildings can be thoughtfully adapted for modern use while preserving their unique character. We have been undertaking design work on a new beachside sauna for an existing hotel, providing an amenity for relaxation, health and wellbeing for guests.

The sauna would be a space to relax and decompress, with a large picture window capturing the view.

A perfect escape from the pressures of modern-day life. Direct access to the white sand beach provides a cooling-off with a welcome dip in the sea!

Continuing our previous posts about the design work GLM’s architectural team have been undertaking to remodel an existing hotel, improving circulation and accessibility has been key for modernising the hotel.

The existing corridors to the bedrooms were dark and unwelcoming. We have looked at using a fresh material palette for these spaces, with lighter walls, timber floors and door linings, and enhanced lighting. Break-out spaces provide opportunities for natural light, views, and relaxed seating for guests.

Continuing our previous post about the design work GLM’s architectural team has been undertaking to remodel an existing hotel, we have also been looking at the interior of the public spaces.

The reception area has been remodelled to create a more welcoming open plan space, providing visual connections to guest facilities such as the lounge and restaurant.

As with the bedroom suites, the public areas also have a modern take on Scandi/Scottish design, with a fireplace nook providing welcoming warmth for the cooler winter nights.
