Another great renewable installation completed by Ideal Electrical Solutions in Edinburgh ⚡☀️

We’ve recently installed a new battery storage system for one of our customers using Alpha ESS batteries, paired with an 8kW inverter setup.

The system has been designed around smart off-peak charging and load shifting, allowing the customer to charge the batteries overnight at around 5p/kWh and use that stored energy during the day instead of importing electricity at peak rates of around 29p/kWh.

Based on shifting around 25kWh per day from peak to off-peak rates, the customer could save approximately:

• Around £6 per day
• Around £180 per month
• Over £2,000 per year

Battery storage is becoming one of the best ways to take control of rising energy costs, especially when combined with smart tariffs such as Octopus Energy Intelligent Go.

We’ve just shared a new case study on a commercial solar PV installation for a church building near Edinburgh.

This project involved a 26.1 kW in-roof solar system, carefully designed to blend into the building while generating significant on-site energy and reducing long-term running costs.

From system design and grid applications through to installation and commissioning, our team managed the project end-to-end.

We’ve recently installed 3 × Project EV chargers, each with dual charging points, giving the site 6 charging sockets in total.

Project scope included:
4G-enabled chargers for reliable connectivity
Ethernet integration for monitoring and management
Full groundwork and cable routes
New dedicated distribution board
Testing, commissioning, and handover

We also managed the full grant process, successfully securing £5,100 back for the client through the Office for Zero Emission Vehicles (OZEV) scheme, keeping the project straightforward and cost-effective from start to finish.

A great example of how well-planned infrastructure and the right funding support can make EV charging an easy win for businesses.

Zappi EV charger successfully installed in a communal parking area this week.

The charger is supplied from the the owners apartment and was carefully fitted to suit a shared environment, ensuring safe operation, tidy cable routes, and minimal disruption for other residents.

A practical solution for EV charging where private driveways aren’t an option – and a great example of how communal spaces can still support the move to electric vehicles.
