A nice English elm Ercol Furniture table saved from the tip! Books had been piled on one end of the table, tipping it onto the floor and snapping 1 of the leaves. I did think about simply regluing it, but opted for cutting out the broken stave instead. Was replaced, the finish and stain were stripped revealing the lovely grain of the elm that had been largely obscured. Have a say, I don't know what stain ercol use for their "old colonial" line, but it is a complete pig to remove entirely!

Just realised I never shared any images of the finished pulpit for Church of Scotland at Newtongrange church. It was quite the marathon; work commencing in 2021, and then finally completing and installing it this year! The last picture was taken on the day we started this project, and you can see how dry and dilapidated it was. Tom cooper Tom Cooper undertook all the structural and timber repairs, Sean diggin Sean Diggin undertook all the moulding reproduction and project management, and I undertook all the stripping, staining, and polishing works. A great job by all involved!

Puppy damage! I'm always amazed how something so cute can be so destructive 😆. All the chewed sections were replaced with new components made to match, and coloured to suite.

A very enjoyable job this one. This table is solid french oak at 70mm thick, and needed reduced in length by 600mm - nothing out of the ordinary. But with the spare extension leaves, and the 600mm offcut, the client decided to get a coffee table made to match! A good example of how quality furniture can be repurposed if needs be.

Sometimes restoration involves some chemistry. If you know what caused the mark, you can reverse the staining with the appropriate chemicals. No sanding has been done so far, this is purely a chemical reaction, and you can see the mark progressively get lighter and lighter. I'll post the finished result.

A little birch ply window desk refurb. I wish I had taken a "before" picture as the white osmo finish had broken down and become all sticky and brown. This was stripped and replaced with Induro W/B PU lacquer (new favourite product), with some white stain mixed through it.
