We produce a range of Peat-free horticultural products at our composting sites in South-East Scotland. Available in small bags for gardens and allotments, builders bags for landscaping and lorry loads for agriculture and remediation projects. We are open to the public, or can deliver across the Central Belt, Fife, Ayrshire and Scottish Borders.

We recently visited Ratho Primary School, where sustainability is being brought to life through outdoor learning, gardening and hands-on experiences for pupils.

Their secret garden is helping create a space where children can learn more about nature, biodiversity and growing, while also supporting health and wellbeing through time spent outdoors.

We were delighted to support the project through our Community Compost Scheme and to see first-hand how contributions from local businesses can help schools and community groups turn their ideas into something meaningful.

We’re delighted to share that we've been named a finalist for Sustainability Initiative of the Year at the Insider Made in Scotland Awards 2026 for our entry, Closing the Loop on Scotland’s Green Waste.

Our entry celebrates the circular approach at the heart of what we do.

Through Forth Resource Management, garden cuttings and woody material collected from communities across Scotland are recovered and processed into high-quality, peat-free composts, soil improvers, topsoils and mulches, which are then returned to gardens and landscapes through our Caledonian Horticulture brand.

Typically, more than 98% of incoming garden cuttings by weight are recovered for beneficial use, helping turn what might otherwise be considered waste into a valuable resource.

Alongside this, continued investment in more fuel-efficient processing equipment, our Community Compost Scheme, environmental partnerships and support for community projects are all helping us reduce our impact and deliver wider environmental benefits across Scotland.

Being named a finalist is fantastic recognition of the work our team and partners put into making the circular economy work in practice every day.

We’re looking forward to attending the Made in Scotland Awards ceremony on Thursday 8th October and celebrating alongside businesses and organisations from across Scotland.

It’s always fantastic to see our products being put to good use in the local community!

A big thank you to GMC Corsehill for funding the delivery, and to all the volunteers who helped get everything safely moved and ready to use.

We’re delighted to hear such lovely feedback about our Green Goodness Soil Improver and Kelpie Compost, and we hope they help produce another brilliant year of crops and flowers.

It was a pleasure to welcome Duncan Dunlop MSP to our Galashiels site and give him an insight into the work taking place at Forth Resource Management.

By recycling locally collected green and woody material into high-quality, peat-free composts, soil improvers and growing media, we’re helping to keep valuable organic material in use while providing gardeners and landscapers with more sustainable alternatives to peat.

A big thank you to Duncan for taking the time to visit, learn more about our processes and highlight the important role businesses like ours can play in supporting Scotland’s transition towards more sustainable horticulture.

Whitecurrants might be less familiar than their red and black relatives, but they’re a brilliant soft fruit to grow in Scottish gardens.

With their translucent, jewel-like berries and sweet, gently tart flavour, whitecurrants are as attractive as they are productive. They’re also hardy, reliable and well suited to Scotland’s cooler summers and dependable rainfall.
