Not quite what the tree surgeons expected to uncover… 🐝😳

While cutting back trees for our client, they disturbed this huge wasp nest hidden away inside.

We got the call and were on site within 20 minutes to get things under control and make the area safe again. 💪

A steady stream of wasps coming in and out of this tiny hole in the wall was all the confirmation we needed — active nest inside!

One board, the full German cockroach life cycle. 🪳👀

From ootheca (egg cases) and tiny nymphs through to fully grown adults — this “Trap-a-Roach” monitor shows just how established the infestation is.

When the job sheet says “wasp nest at the apex of the shed roof”… so naturally Daryl looked up. 😂🐝

Turns out they’d chosen the mini roof on the floor instead.

Technically still a roof, we suppose. 🤷‍♀️

One egg case can produce a lot of new activity very quickly, which is why early identification and treatment is so important.

Spotting wasps at the attic light was Claire’s first clue… 👀🐝

A quick inspection later and she found the culprit — an active nest tucked away in the loft.

Sometimes the smallest signs lead you straight to the source!

A reminder that we don’t treat bees — if we find them, we’ll always advise on the best way to leave them safely to do their thing. 💛

Thankfully, the mystery guest was safely removed and released.

Definitely not the pest we were expecting that day!

I recently had the pleasure of joining Gillian at Citylets for their latest podcast to chat about all things pests in the rental sector.

We covered some of the most common pest issues affecting rental properties, the importance of prevention, the responsibilities of landlords and tenants, and shared practical advice that can hopefully help people avoid bigger problems down the line.

When wasps are using the same entrance over and over again, it’s one of the biggest clues that there’s a nest nearby. 🐝👀

In this case, they’d made themselves at home inside a planter! Watch them coming and going—it’s a tell-tale sign of an active nest.
