John: "It's like an anaconda!" 🐍

Sean: "My arm's not long enough!" 😱

It's safe to say, this is not the standard post for a GasCare Domestic job.

We had a call from a property agent reporting a toilet which wouldn't flush. So far, so standard.

John arrived on site to find the toilet was severely blocked. Also fairly standard.

Then came some investigation - and it was here that things took a turn to the unusual.

We found there was a TREE growing out of the lead waste pipe on the outside the building. Yes, a tree!

So, with able assistance from Director Sean, the tree was cut away and they started to remove the pipework to be re-piped.

Once the lead pipe section was removed, they could see that the roots disappeared into the pipe, heading back inside the building.

Never one to be accused of not getting his hands dirty, Sean stepped up.

As he described it: "We pulled this alien creature from the drain and honestly, in my 20 years' working in plumbing and heating, it’s the first time I’ve ever seen anything like it.

"The smell. ⁠The length. And, the thought that this tree has probably been growing in the pipe for over a decade!"

So, there you have it - whatever the issue, your local, trusted GasCare experts will be there to deal with it... even if there are a few "oh dear me"s along the way!

One of the things we enjoy most about our job is the people.

Not just our team, but our suppliers and our clients, too. It's incredibly satisfying to create and develop lasting working relationships with you!

🤔 The best team-building exercise?

It's got to be laughter!

We had a brilliant team night out to see Irish comedian John O' Keefe during the Edinburgh Festival Fringe last month - and it turned out to be the kind of night where your face aches from laughing so much!

We put a lot of focus on working effectively and efficiently together so that we can deliver exceptional service for our clients, so it was great to step away from the desks, put down the tools, and to enjoy some social time together.

Our new office phone line is 0131 603 3122 - it will be live from this Monday, 24th August.

While we appreciate changing our number is an inconvenience, the new line offers a host of benefits as part of our continual efforts to provide an exceptional service to you.

Part of this will be in improving the efficiency of our phone system, meaning that you can be directed straight to the person you need to speak to, and your call will be answered more quickly.

Our current number will be in use until Monday, and will remain in operation next week as a 'just in case' - but please give us a call on the new number in the first instance.
