There’s always something I’ve l always loved about a Saturday morning on site when nobody else is around and you finally get a bit of time to breathe and take it all in.

This extension is now almost ready for the finishing touches, and I must say, it’s going to be an incredible space for this family to enjoy for many years to come.

The project includes a large living area, beautiful family kitchen, home office, utility room and a lovely corridor complete with a rooflight, bringing plenty of natural light into the heart of the extension.

We’ve also created an internal ensuite and a large family bathroom, along with a walk-in wardrobe — making the whole space feel like a proper family home rather than simply an extension.

We can’t wait to get this one over the line now and start putting those all-important finishing touches in place.

OUR NEW WEBSITE IS LIVE! 🖤🔥

Finally got the new White Elm website up and running and we’re absolutely buzzing with how it’s turned out.

Six years ago, White Elm Joinery & Construction was just an idea.

Two men, one van and a lot of ambition.

After putting our own money into a van that cost us a painful £24,000 after Covid 😬, we set out to build a company based on one simple principle — do what we say we’re going to do, and do it properly.

The early years weren’t easy. We took on jobs that didn’t make money, projects that ran over, long days, late nights and plenty of graft. There were times we looked more like chimney sweeps than joiners! 😂

But through it all, we delivered.

Six years on, that same determination has helped us build something we’re incredibly proud of.

From 2 men and 1 van to a team of 7 and 7 vehicles, White Elm has grown into a company built on skilled tradesmen, trusted relationships and a genuine passion for creating great spaces.

Our team of joiners and bricklayers are the backbone of the business, and the relationships we’ve built with clients, trades, suppliers, architects, friends and family have been a huge part of our journey.

We’re hugely grateful to everyone who has supported White Elm along the way.

We’re still learning every day, still pushing for better, and still striving for perfection on every project.

Six years down. We’re only getting started. 🖤

✈️ Ever booked a cheap flight…

…then realised it’s extra for your seat, extra for your bag, extra for priority boarding… and by the time you’ve checked out, it’s nowhere near the price you thought it was?

Unfortunately, building projects can sometimes feel the same.

At White Elm, we think construction should be different.

People often ask how we come up with our prices.

The truth is, we don’t just look at a set of drawings and stick a number on them.

Architects are brilliant at designing your project, but they can’t tell you exactly how many bricks it’ll take, how long a complicated bit of steelwork will take to install or every little detail that only comes from years of actually building houses.

That’s where experience comes in.

We use the drawings, we visit site, we think ahead and we use the experience we’ve built up over years in the trade to give you the most honest and realistic price we can.

Will we always get every single thing perfect?

Nobody can.

That’s why we’d always recommend clients allow around 10% contingency within their own budget. Not because we’re planning for problems, but because every building project can throw up something unexpected. We’d rather you had it and didn’t need it than needed it and didn’t have it.

The funny thing is though… most of the additional costs on our jobs aren’t because of unforeseen issues.

They’re because clients see their dream home coming together and decide to upgrade the kitchen, choose different flooring, add bespoke joinery or include something they hadn’t originally thought about.

And do you know what?

That’s brilliant.

Because it’s your home.

For us, the best projects are always the ones where the client, the architect and the contractor are all pulling in the same direction from day one.

When everyone’s honest, communicates properly and works together, building your dream home should be exciting, not stressful.

That’s exactly how we like to work.

No sales gimmicks.

No smoke and mirrors.

Proud to be backing Spartans 2012 as they move into Under 15s this season.

I grew up round here, so this one means a bit more than just putting our name on a strip. It’s good to be able to give something back to an area that’s always been a big part of my life.

I’ve always believed sport is one of the best things young people can be involved in. It teaches respect, discipline, teamwork and how to set high standards—qualities that matter just as much in work as they do in sport.

Those are the same values we try to build White Elm on every day.
