Why might you need a new fuseboard (consumer unit)?

1. Your current one is outdated
Older fuseboards (especially with fuses instead of switches) don’t have the same level of protection as modern units.

2. Safety improvements
New fuseboards include additional protection (like RCDs/RCBOs) that help reduce the risk of electric shock and fire.

3. Failed or unsatisfactory EICR
If an electrical inspection flags issues with your fuseboard, it may need upgrading to meet current standards.

4. Frequent tripping or faults
If your electrics trip regularly, the fuseboard could be part of the problem.

5. Renovations or added load
Extensions, new kitchens, EV chargers, etc. can mean your existing board is no longer suitable.
